Armed smash-and-grab looters broke into a high-end exotic car dealership in Chicago, stealing millions of dollars in watches.
"We're here to run a legitimate business, not be a western shootout," Joe Perillo, co-owner of Gold Coast Exotic Motor Cars, told ABC7.
Two men reportedly entered the dealership, which boasts a showroom of Lamborghinis and Bentleys, around noon on Saturday. One man was armed with a gun and stood by the entrance of the dealership while the other man used a hammer to smash display cases and allegedly stole about eight luxury watches, Fox 32 reported.
"He was smart enough not to raise the gun, because my people had guns," said Perillo. "If he raised that gun, he would have been shot, we’d probably be in court defending ourselves."
The watches were stolen in a matter of seconds and worth millions of dollars, according to the store.

No. If the guards gave the gunman, who was aiding and abetting a major felony, armed robbery, a command to drop his weapon, and he refused to, he could be viewed as a deadly threat and shot, at least in the legs/arms.
They could not shoot the unarmed thief except perhaps with a teaser.
We’re here to run a legitimate business, not be a western shootout,” Joe Perillo, co-owner of Gold Coast Exotic Motor Cars, told ABC7.
Well then say goodby to your business, clown.
This has got to change.
Considering that business, you’ll likely have to prove it with a credit check or verified bank letter
Most shoppers there would already have proof they belong there
Sounds like the owner needed some insurance money.
Rolex made in China?
“It’s Chicago. Who cares”
That’s about where I am now. Anyone who wants to continue operating in ‘The City’ or even a Blue county might as well learn to live with this crap. Most were ‘woke’ instead of fighting Soros types when it mattered, so now they can live with the results of their idealism.
Yeah. I’m not sure what kind of watch runs in the $500,000 range.
Most top out around $50k unless you get into rapper bling territory or are talking historical artifact (e.g., Winston Churchill’s watch or Steve McQueens Rolex Daytona).
Fount was correct. That’s the Ebonics version of “found”. Based on the criminals who pulled this job, you were correct.
There was a liquor store in OKC back in the sixties/seventies. Very big, very good prices, lots of business and lots of inventory and cash on the premises. Lot’s of robberies to.
The store ended these robberies when they installed a large balcony across the back on side of the store. There were a minimum of three men armed with shotguns on the balcony at all times. After two or three shootings, the robberies stopped.
Exactly.
Shoot them.
It’s your job.
High end watches? I have a Casio and a Timex watch, both tell me the time... I don’t need an overpriced watch from Rolex...
I’d go with one and two.
“With other customers around, a shootout with the guard was the last thing he wanted..”
If his men had an ounce of training and skill with firearms there would have been no shootout and two dead street turds.
“...stole about eight luxury watches...”
“The watches were stolen in a matter of seconds and worth millions of dollars, according to the store.”
BS.
Thanks for posting, that was fun.
If you look at the video and note there was about ten seconds between the smash and both guys running out of the store, no longer a threat, and in Chicago and you tell me you would advise them to shoot them in the back I’d say enjoy your time with Ty in a cell. Second if you do shoot someone the place to aim is center mass not the legs or arms. Third standard answer to the question to why did you shoot is to stop the person from harming you or someone else. In this case they could not make that fly especially with a video. It infuriates me that in 49 states that is the situation. Now in texas what they did would be viewed as “open season”. There you are authorized to protect both life and property. All in my opinion of course.
Never said to shoot a fleeing robber in the back. Learned that in “Criminal Law, Evidence and Procedure” probably before you were born. Son was also a federal police officer and combat countersniper. He knew when to shoot or to use non-lethal takedown tactics.
Sometimes you just have to stop a crime if you legally can and it is the right circumstance. This was a right circumstance if warning procedures were followed. It might have so stoped future armed robberies and saved lives.
