An important discussion on truth and free will, plus the evils of Gender Ideology and Cancel Culture.

Wonderful speech. I hope it will be life changing & soul affirming to some of that audience & to many others as well.

There remains a rational, decent core remnant at even the most woke universities. Eventually the lunacy of the Left will eventually collapse under its own illogical weight. It begins in 2022.

One quibble with Ms. Shrier...

“And the ACLU threw its entire, century-old mission in the garbage, all because of one book with which it disagreed.”

That ship sailed many, many moons ago.

From the article:

>None of you will be shocked to hear that Google promotes certain search results in order to lead us to a certain perspective.

Any FReepers who still have Google as their default search engine are asleep at the keyboard.

Also, I don’t much like Reddit, but they are sometimes useful.

Hillsdale College publication Imprimus printed what she said to that university several months ago. Even though I have witnessed this with a local lefty political columnist who wrote a series of articles chronicling his stepson’s misadventures in this crazy place with a sympathetic viewpoint, Professor Shrirer’ article in Imprimus was/is bone chilling.

She makes a lot of great points, but college is supposed to be about learning. Yeah, great athletes inspire us and blah-de-blah. But sports is what’s making your kids’ expensive college degree not worth the paper it’s printed on. She’s saying, “How can we keep all this effed-up crap as part of the educational system and still not be wasting our money?” (I read the article a couple of days ago and that was my first thought.) Clearly, there is no way to fix this. We need to stop wasting our money and placing such an emphasis on “higher education.”

Is athletics all that’s driving your kid’s path through education? Hm, maybe time to re-think. Emphasis on college is a symptom of communism’s advance. Reality is that lots of people aren’t that helped by college, especially if they didn’t do well as students in elementary education, but communism (Marx’s theory) insists that “everyone” become educated, at State expense if necessary. Without leftist professors, communism in the USA would be dead in the water.

End college athletics and that will solve the problem once and for all. If a kid wants to become involved in sports, that’s great! Ya know? Get him or her involved in a league and go for it.

Like, Nice Lady is saying, “We can have college sports - YAY, MONEY!!! - and academics, too, if you kids will just get off your lazy a$$es and get out there and put your lives on the line!”

“The wonderful education you have earned here will have been wasted if you find yourself one day observing some lie predominating in your own field, and the best you can do is sit on the phone with me anonymously lamenting the state of things.”

Yes, by all means: Threaten them! Get them up and out into the streets! Inflame them with anti-trans rhetoric on behalf of college athletes!

Because they don’t have enough problems already.

OK she is Jewish and told us so over and over, but past that I have no clue what this is about. My eyes were falling out trying to read and keep up.

I’ll be reading this one. Would love to know more of the thoughts of someone who can spot “astonishingly well-read” undergrads at Princeton! Most I met only want to read one thing: their name on a Princeton diploma. For that they’ll read, say, do, and think whatever it takes.

Now and then I meet someone willing to wade into a political discussion, on any college campus. They’ll soon raise their hands in surrender, as if to a highwayman; as if to say, take my wallet, my phone, my opinions, nothing in any of ‘em worth fighting for; he who steals my purse steals trash, eh?
Of course they don’t know that quote by a dead white male.

But...if the current batch of undergrads are well-read, that’s the best news I’ve heard in a while!

Agreed—she stepped on her lead.

The message was to stand up and fight.

She presented it to an audience that probably already surrendered and submitted to the pfascist vaccines.

:-(

I don’t know if they are “well read” or not, but most college students at big-name universities are well propagandized.

> I have no clue what this is about. My eyes were falling out trying to read and keep up.

Cliff notes version. She is denouncing the Woke cancel culture in America today where doctors are being intimidated into silence on threat of cancellation while their teenaged patients are being peer-pressured into doing “Irreparable Damage” (the name of her book that has made her univerally hated by the Woke NPCs) to themselves because of Woke peer pressure.

She is trying to rally the silent majority into standing tall against the tyranny of the evil Gender Ideology leaders and resisting their absurdities that threaten our children and our Country.

If you have ever wondered why so many athletes from around the world attend college in the USA, it is because we are the only country that gives college scholarship money to athletes. We are also among the only (perhaps the only) countries where college sports teams exist. In other countries, student athletes play on local or club teams. Their universities are about academics.

It would be very interesting if the scoreboards at the Olympics and other world championship competitions had an additional column which showed where that athlete attended college or trains or even resides. The number that would show USA would be astounding and a wonderful visual for the world to see.

Sir, you have been on FR long enough to avoid such problematic posts that destroy the interest that you want to bring to the post. It was only my interest in Abagail Shrier that led me to open this post. Doing a 'copy&paste' on sign-ins and links makes your posting paragraph a mish-mash of nonsense. USE, please, the 'Excerpt' ability and post that 1st ACTUAL paragraph.

I write this only because I want your posts to be successful, not to carp at you. I 'think' that you remember the old limited bandwidth days and seek to post it all-at-once when it is largely unnecessary.

Yes, you can reject the false, dogmatic insistences of Gender Ideology and still wish to see transgender Americans prosper and flourish and fulfill their dreams in America. I do.

She makes a joke of her entire essay with this statement.

Yes, but it would still cost the college attendees who were just there for an education a bu++load of money.
