(Reuters) -Multiple people were trapped after a roof partially collapsed at an Amazon.com Inc facility near St. Louis on Friday night, after tornadoes and strong storms blew through the area, media reported.
The warehouse in Edwardsville in southern Illinois was damaged after a severe weather event occurred around 8:33 p.m. (0233 GMT on Saturday), the authorities said, adding that local police and fire departments have a search and rescue operations in place...

Elsewhere, in Monette, Arkansas, NBC news is reporting one person was deceased and five were seriously injured when an apparent tornado struck the Monette Manor Nursing Home - rescue operations also under way there
Two weeks before Christmas.
Christians don't care so much.
My first quick glance at the headline made me think this was in South America. Sorry but regardless of how big Amazon becomes my first reaction is to think of the rainforest not Jeff Bezos and gang.
We just ended a tornado alert here. Sadly we lost power a while back. Apparently the 5G still works here though :-)
“here” being South Central kentucky.
It is not a roof collapse...half of the building is gone. A police spokesman a couple of hours ago, spoke with a reporter and talked about “families” and “Chaplains.” They brought in backhoes to move debris and are searching for victims outside to the east of the building.
The drone footage online is horrific. Tornado went right through the middle of the building...and left half of it completely destroyed. Floors and shelving either blown away or pancaked...the only thing left is the outer steel skeleton.
just saw on the Storm Prediction site...that the Corvette Plant in Bowling Green took a direct hit and that workers are trapped from a partial collapse..and that the plants roof is on fire....
Riverbender.com on Facebook for drone video...takes about 10 minutes to watch.
Holy Hannah !
Thanks for the details but it sounds like a terrible, terrible scene. The families will be in my prayers to nite.
Definitely not just a “collapse “
Whoa !
Does anyone know - is that a tilt-up construction warehouse, and are those concrete panels? Yikes no matter what, but really yikes if so.
Damn! Looks like close to ZERO tornado protection built into that Amazon facility.
What do you mean? What are you talking about????
I was going to crack a joke until I saw the picture. Now, I am going to offer up prayers for these people. How terrible! Please God, help those poor people!
A few hours ago, on the scanner, the first responders asked if there was a shelter where more of the workers could possibly be...because they couldn't find the “majority.” There were 46 evacuated. They were staging ambulances and helos at first, but called them off.:(
O my. I was thinking that was an incredible awesome picture.. but 245 miles. Prayers for all. The Amazon warehouse destruction. Hope things sound better in the AM.
I have nothing involved with either joe biden's log jam at the sea ports, nor any gifts that come through the amazon system.
As a Christian regarding "Christmas", it's too bad the timing of all this shipping and delivery quandary is occurring two weeks before Christmas .... but Christmas is about Christ.
