The ACLU threatens it every year, but our elected county officials basically give them the finger because our town overwhelmingly supports this celebration of the season. And, yeah, Trump carried our county by over 30%.

Growing up in NY, ‘out on The Island’, the Dominican nuns were fieeeerce. We had many religions many churches, a temple many religions in the neigbpruand in the public school. Never did I ever hear a word from the nuns or my people that one religion was primary or better than another.
My town is still that way. Big NYC commuting town. Big Trump flag on the tallest building too.
Not until I encountered people in my adulthood and met people who were raised differently. And forget the south. When I moved with the military I met people who struggled with catholicism forget Judaism. The military though as an institution is the most non discriminatory organization there is. As far as my experience goes.
Just saying.

Personally, I have learned that if you are going to have a discussion with someone with whom you disagree, you must first establish common ground.
Even so, it is still difficult. Only the light of God’s abundant grace can move one’s mind to a place objectively better than their current state.

These attacks on Catholic statues and churches have been ongoing for years and years, but really ramped up starting last year with BLM protests and antifa antics.
The guy who defaced a beautiful marble statue of the Blessed Mother with the Christ child in my hometown in 2004 was reportedly a paranoid schizophrenic hearing voices. (Mary’s face was hacked up her, baby Jesus decapitated and his little arms hacked off.)
Police said they were “investigating” whether the vandalism of the statue of the Blessed Mother (decapitated, head stolen) at a Chattanooga parish last summer was a “hate crime” but I can’t find any news of an arrest, so they probably never found the culprit(s).
No, probably a Democrat.

I saw the video and the criminal was very health conscious as he wore an anti-Wuhan virus mask to prevent getting any Wuhan virus germs on the statute and thus risk it getting sick.
I’m not Catholic but I’m thinking God is not going to be so gracious with someone dissing His mom...
