The large-scale drug trafficking operation of an infamous cartel just got busted in a mountain state some 1,400 miles from its Mexican headquarters and only one U.S. official, a local prosecutor, has dared to acknowledge the obvious; “This poison is coming over from our southern border unchecked,” said the elected prosecutor of Colorado’s largest district. “It will not stop coming over the border from Mexico into our communities until the federal government takes that porous border seriously.” His name is John Kellner, district attorney in the state’s 18th Judicial District which serves a population of about 1.3 million and covers Arapahoe, Douglas, Lincoln, and Elbert counties. The area varies from Denver suburbs to rural neighborhoods.

Even though it said explicitly in the lease contract no growing... Of course that was ignored, but it gave them the legal leverage for eviction, and the evictions were on the rise when they left. They were up to about one a month when they sold (out of about 130 properties they managed). It wasn't just individuals though, it was organized. I remember one "client" they had, had rented 8 homes. Big red flag, who needs to rent 8 homes? Duh! IIRC he had told them the rentals were for "extended family" ... right...
It got dicey enough that the last year or so they ran the business they kept firearms in the office and two employees got CC permits for going and posting eviction notices. Our friends had multiple verbal threats against their lives. They live in another state now. Retired and washed their hands of the whole mess.
Dad didn’t even know they were there until he came home from staying at my sister’s house over a weekend and the road up to his place and his drive were filled with Feds. The sheriff told dad everything. 9,000 plants. Dad said his dogs would growl every once in awhile in daylight, which was a little strange, but he lives in the mountains, so there is ALWAYS something around.
9k plants, wow!!! If each plant is making say half a pound of finished product, which is possible outdoors and with fert, but remove half as male so you’re looking at ~ 2,250lbs. sounds like a several million dollar grow. I’m assuming they were pumping water from a stream?
Yep. They were pulling right out of the creek. Good water. Smart sonsaguns because they pulled enough to fill their tanks, but didn’t do it at a rate anyone would come looking to find out where the water went.
Looky there. Colorado legalizes marijuana and the cartels take advantage.
yep... they probably have 10 going across the state and know they’re going to lose 3 or whatever..
Colorado is pay dirt for the cartels.....
