Airline corporations have explicitly demanded passengers wear masks between bites of food and sips of drinks.
Despite a Harvard study reported by the Washington Post in 2020 that indicates “flying can be safer than eating at a restaurant during the pandemic” due to “onboard systems that constantly circulate and refresh air,” airlines have begun conducting in-flight announcements to cudgel people into donning masks while eating and drinking.

Fortunately, I only had 30-40 minutes between each flight.
And got seated first, so I could watch the potential jihadis load our luggage
I resolved to stop flying back when the TSA started grabbing crotches. So, no reason to revisit that decision now.
You got Macadamia nuts? I got no-name Chex mix
It’s definitely overkill, but this isn’t news.. this has been the case since early 2020.
I had to go to Vegas last October and avoided eating there because of that rule. I had dinner at the Mexican Grill at the California state line. Although it's on the Nevada side, no masks are required and none of the customers were wearing masks.
Incidentally, on the way to Las Vegas, I had breakfast at Emma Jean's Hollandburger Cafe in Victorville, which serves excellent food and is patronized mostly by locals. I ate there because according to the websites of both of the restaurants where I usually eat on the way to Vegas, masks are now required.
Yeah airlines food is mostly now a bag of cheap pretzels. Sometimes a Biscoff cookie. Peanuts? Forget those too. First class gets you a few more varieties of bagged snacks.
Mostly on the domestic flights.
Imagine if they demand athletes to don masks at the Olympics.
“PPS: Alaska to Atlanta you get b’fast in steerage.”
$8.50 for a breakfast sandwich.
“Once upon a time, like in the 1960’s, air travel actually was fun.”
Boy, I’m with you there. Great service, you were treated with respect, you could arrive an hour before flighttime and walk right up to the gate, and the stewardesses (can I say that?) were very attractive. But then you paid more.
Then Reagan de-regulated the airlines and everything went downhill. Lower airfares meant cutting back services. And you got a different type of passenger (the stewardesses called them “the Clampetts”).
Yeah, those were the days.
gotta love J.P.
The airlines have become a circus. I don’t fly anymore.
Not Reagan. Deregulation happened under Carter with the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978.
It’s just to make sure that COVID positive passengers maximize the amount of mask touching and contamination of everything they subsequently touch.
...it’s the worst behavior possible.
I just flew last week. They made the announcement to do this on the plane. I just ignored it. Only had goldfish crackers and a mini diet coke, so mask was hardly off anyway.
Duzzin matter, it’s offered which is different from not being offered anything at all; first class gets it for free but then, price of the seat.
I flew to Orlando to visit my son about 5 years ago, and my flights down I was lucky enough to get randomized TSA Pre-check tickets. Which I find very contradictory BTW-that they randomly assign those. Anyway, on the way home I was not so lucky, and the feeling-up I got from the TSA person was the most revolting experience I have ever had in public!
So, prior to flying again, I signed up for that useless TSA Pre program. It doesn’t mean that I’m a safe bet to the plane full of people, but I don’t have to be felt up, nor remove my shoes or other clothing items. It was around a hundred bucks, and good for 5 years.
The first time I flew after signing up was with a friend, and she ended up getting randomized TSA Pre-check tickets both legs of the trip. She didn’t get what the big deal was - until we were through the security point in under 5 minutes, and unmolested.
Then she floored me by saying that she really didn’t mind having to remove her shoes and belt, that she didn’t care when the TSA creep felt her over, and she liked going into that booth thing and holding her hands in the air. I was stunned! She said it made her feel like she was really on vacation at last. UGH. So, I made her sit on a bench with me, facing the passengers who were then passing through security. People hopping around trying to deal with their footwear, very oversized guys trying to get their belts back on, people getting YELLED at by TSA creeps, folks trying to put their bags back together. Everyone looking frustrated and sheepish.
That image is crystal clear in my memory. TSA Pre-check, the best gimmick I ever spent money on.
“Duzzin matter, it’s offered which is different from not being offered anything at all; “
It is a prepared, wrapped sandwich, not a meal.
The Mask laws are because of the Radical Leftist Association of Flight Attendants Union - CWA part of the AFL-CIO. They supported Idiot Joe and are now demanding their payback.
The Union is pushing for Mask laws for the rest of 2022 and beyond to control the passengers - has nothing to do with health. Joe will always cave to their demands.
” Great service, you were treated with respect, “
As they soaked you with high fares.
