Gaetz wants Trump to be speaker, not himself.

A nightmare scenario for Dems is created by contemplating President Trump as Speaker of the House.

It assumes a solid, commanding Republican sweep of both House and Senate in 2021. With Trump appointed Speaker by the Republican Majority, the public is treated to the spectacle of Nancy--if she hasn't retired-- handing over the gavel to her former nemesis as Trump hands her the fragments of his State of the Union speech she ripped up.

Within the first months of the new Congress, Articles of Impeachment are drawn up slamming Joe Biden with a series of charges and the Reps swiftly vote to Impeach.

The Senate follows through and finds Biden Guilty and removes him from office.

With Kamala now President, the House of Reps finds it even easier to impeach and remove her for total incompetency.

Trump then re-enters the White House as the 48th President of the United States.

I like Gaetz, but he’s a zany guy who is full of sh!t most of the time he opens his mouth. I still remember that he swore to high heaven early this year that he had a large majority of GOP House members who were ready to expel Lizard Cheney from her Republican Party post in the House. When it came time to vote in secret, she kept her position by a wide margin

Except that Liz Cheney was, in fact, stripped of stripped of “her Republican Party post in the House”, by the House GOP in a closed-door meeting.

” House Republicans ousted Rep. Liz Cheney from her leadership position Wednesday (in May) … as House Republican Conference chairwoman, (the No. 3 minority leadership) position that entails leading the chamber’s messaging efforts.”

She was stripped of her leadership post in May after the GOP voted to keep her there in February. I speculated at the time that they must have gotten a ton of sh!t about it from many prospective donors in the intervening three months.

Huh? Matt Gaetz is the one asking for the Speakership.

From the first line of the story: "Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said Tuesday he's spoken directly with former President Donald Trump about installing Trump as House speaker if Republicans win control of the chamber in the midterms..."

"I still remember that he swore to high heaven early this year that he had a large majority of GOP House members who were ready to expel Lizard Cheney from her Republican Party post in the House."

Gaetz did have "a large majority of GOP House members ready to expel Lizard early this year" in the Feb. 3 Conference meeting (see below, "At least half of the speakers indicated that they would vote to remove Cheney." with nearly full GOP House attendance), but instead, McCarthy, because of the optix, engineered a face-saving vote and forced them to wait until the next Conference meeting to remove Lizard.

Prior to that, the Minority Leadership positions -- including Lizard's No. 3 -- were filled without any opposition by Gaetz to block Lizard, on January 3, 2021.

In his Jan. 6 DC rally speech, President Trump said, "The Liz Cheneys of the world, we got to get rid of them.". Pissant Dick was so incensed he called his daughter Lizard on the phone.

After Lizard voted to impeach President Trump on January 13, 2021, Gaetz rallied in Cheyenne on January 28, 2021, but was only calling for a primary challenger to upend Lizard.

To my knowledge, Gaetz never said he had more than "a handful of members" of the House Freedom Caucus behind him (HFC is currently 44 of 213) at any point.

The February 3, 2021 GOP House Conference meeting lasted 4 hours with nearly full attendance.

"The line to the microphone was extraordinarily long. At least half of the speakers indicated that they would vote to remove Cheney. Ralph Norman of South Carolina expressed disappointment in her vote. “But the other thing that bothers me, Liz,” he went on, “is your attitude. You’ve got a defiant attitude.” John Rutherford of Florida, a former sheriff, accused the chairwoman of not being a “team player.”

Lizard was finally removed as Republican Conference Chair on May 12, 2021. McCarthy wouldn't even permit a vote on the record, instead ordering a voice vote without a roll call.

The new VP under Harris would be next in line... not Speaker.

The new VP under Harris would be next in line... not Speaker.

A Dem VP would never ever be approved by a dominant Republican Congress.

"The impeachment of Joe Biden will be the first one in American history to result in a conviction.
In fact it will be a very short trial with an overwhelming majority well above 2/3 of the Senators voting to remove the incumbent president.
When Kamala Harris then is elevated into the empty presidency, her nominees to become replacement VP will be delayed and thwarted. Impeachment proceedings against President Harris will begin immediately. The result will also be very quickly arrived at with the same results of removal from office.
Then Speaker of the House Donald Trump will be the first person in United States history to fulfill the constitutional role of that position to become President after the removal of an incumbent President and Vice President. It has been provided for in the Constitution all along, but it finally becomes a reality."

This Is How Donald Trump Can Constitutionally Become President of the United States Again in 2023

There are tons of assumptions in this scenario. The percentage of success can’t be that high and requires GOP representatives and senators along the same line of Gaetz, etc. They’re a minority among the GOP, most of whom are more cowed than assertively pro-Trump.

Yeah... this scenario depends on multiple low-percentage events occurring. I honestly don’t see it.

If your definition of low-percentage hovers between zilch and none then I agree.

That’s exactly where my low-percentage range sits.

And in the 0.0000000000001% chance this happens, if I were Harris (and I am so glad I’m not!), I’d counter by nominating a GOP VP to firewall against this.
