Young people, boys and girls both, should always be given the utmost encouragement to be active and stay healthy, to get regular exercise and avoid things that are bad for them such as alcohol, smokes, etc. This is common sense.

College and pro sports is against that whole idea, however. We are kind of seeing the end of that rainbow now. Think: Whether you have kids or not, you’re paying taxes for public school sports programs, which are often the most costly, but boost enrollment because then kids can go on to college with a scholarship! (For being good at sports! Which has little to do with academics!)

When you pay for your kid to go to college, whether your kid is active in sports or not, be sure that much of it goes to fund some kind of athletics. (And even though it’s college and we’re supposed to be learning how, among other important things, to interact with those in the workplace, employees, colleagues, etc, the main thing we learn is that jocks don’t have to go to class and they still make good grades, and also if they catch you out of the dorm at night, they could hurt you REALLY BADLY just on a whim!)

Pro sports (and the so-called “olympics”) have spawned a new generation of victimization. Most people know of, for example, the young female athletes who were abused by the infamous Dr Nassar and various trainers and coaches (it’s still worth it because of the MONEY, though!!! Feed your children to the olympics, it’s bound to pay off!). A lot of people aren’t that aware of the epidemic of sports-related injuries in grade-school and high-school aged students being pushed to participate in sports where competition is very aggressive (including dirty tactics) and there is a great deal of pressure on to get a college scholarship in sports, thus relieving parents of financial burden while they still attain status.

This is something known to me from having worked in orthopedics for some time, having transcribed and read over many records of young kids (8, 9, 10 years old) with torn menisci and severe knee injuries that you would normally only expect to see in pro football players (or very reckless motorcyclists).

Kids want to play sports and some of them are very good at it. It’s marvelous and makes you believe in humanity. But this is the end result, and if your kid lasts long enough to excel in college sports, then for the pros we have the image of professional loser Kapernick “taking a knee” for losers everywhere.

Time taken to play with your kid and get him/her involved in athletics is time well spent, but keep him out of the hands of “professionals” if you want my advice. I don’t see much benefit to encouraging your kid to go into something where there’s a high probability he’ll have some kind of permanent joint or even brain damage before he even gets into college. I know this opinion of mine may pi$$ some people off! Let me repeat: Look at what pro sports has turned into!

"her nearest rival"?

Try "its" ... it's more accurate.

The question isn’t why men are allowed to cheat. Some people will always cheat.

The question is why women allow it when they could end it easily.

Its kinda sad that a guy could take pride in this kind of “victory”. Just as its sad that people are manipulated in going along with this bs.

I agree. They will just have to forfeit. But for some, that will cost them their college education on athletic scholarship, and a very difficult choice to make, I expect.

. Sports should be a pure meritocracy.

It has been. The only separation has been between male atheletes and female athletes. This is a recognition of the natural advantages that males have over female athletes. (Bigger lung capacity; more muscles, denser bones).

Now we have biological males competing against biological females; and, of course, the females are going to lose out in that contest.

What is never mentioned is the topic of scholarships. These males are taking away scholarship opportunities from the female athletes. This is completely unfair.

I agree, that the females should have been raising holy hell about this at the beginning. At this point, I don't know if it is too late for this b.s. to be turned around; but, it should be.

I have mentioned before, on this subject, that I am waiting for the female figure skating competitions to be infiltrated by male skaters. They can't beat the really good male figure skaters; but, they can beat the females. The Quad jump is one area in which male skaters can perform a quad; but, I don't think a female figure skater has ever performed a quad. Now, since difficulty of the jumps is a main focus on scoring, this would be a great problem for the females; and, I would foresee no actual woman winning a female figure skating competition after the infiltration of males.

This is just an outrage; but, people are afraid to confront this topic.
