As a broadcast journalist, my goal was always to get my accurate story on the air first. Beating the other networks by even just a minute was a major victory when covering breaking news. It drove ratings and ratings are everything. So, let me give you an advantage in your political discussion group. Here is the headline for January 1, 2022: The old CNN is dead!
The cause of death is not the forced departure of Chris Cuomo or Rachel Maddow’s act becoming so old she is moving to a weekly show. Nor is it that CNN’s jaundiced journalists conspired to be completely wrong about Kyle Rittenhouse, the false Russia collusion claim, Hunter Biden’s laptop, Jessie Smollett, Border Patrol whippings, and countless other “important” news stories. The reason is good old-fashioned free-market economics combined with Americans’ limited tolerance of CNN’s ultra-liberal BS (Bovine Secretions).
Two decades ago, CNN was the news juggernaut. But since then, its viewership dropped faster than Joe Biden’s approval ratings. Media mogul John Malone just bought the sinking news ship in a fire sale and he will waste no time in cutting out the cancerous cause for CNN’s liberal-laced decline.
To understand why Malone must drastically reshape CNN, you must understand who really decides what you watch on a news program. When watching CNN, MSNBC, or the three major entertainment networks, it is easy to blame the news anchor for the seriously slanted left-leaning coverage.
Today’s talking heads, though, are not the main cause of the problem. They just blindly read whatever the show producers dump into their teleprompters. In their carefully clipped, dulcet tones, complete with properly concerned expressions, they read the words written by far-left young men and women who think the world revolves around them and their favorite Manhattan pan-Mongolian vegetarian restaurant.

I’ll believe it when I see it. But really, this author is celebrating a return to good ole fashion bias.

CNN was not firebrand left under Ted Turner, although Ted had leftist sentiments during his periods of sobriety. If I had a choice of a sleazy New York guy like Zucker or a rich guy with a stomach that doubled as a bourbon distillery that liked pushing a baseball around the Atlanta Braves field with his nose, I’ll take the fun drunk rich guy, the very blurry eyed visionary that started the whole 24 hour cable news industry.
The old CNN was the brainchild of Ted Turner. A 24 hour news operation. It began with, I think, an earnest desire to get a lock on the news business and revolutionize it. They made concerted effort to get crews or affiliated journalists out in major areas of the world ready to react and report
It got its big break with Peter Arnetta and Bernard Shaw having the fortune to be in Baghdad with a video camera on that big night of the Gulf War.. It ended up with the world locked to their TVs and CNN front and center. A big time viewership relationship began after that and its stock in the world became household legend....
But it soon devolved from reporting news to shaping it, by bias, selective reporting (or ignoring), or just plain outright lies. I think the infestation of leftists happened so quickly after that it couldn’t help from becoming what it is today - a leftist joke

I'll believe it when I see CNN do a several parts expose of Mockingbird, or whatever name it goes by now, and fires the deep staters on its own payroll.
Given Liberty Media’s institutional ownership, I expect SSDD from CNN.

Nah, no chance CNN will turn to straight real news. “ Progressives” depend on them for their propaganda.
It’s way too late. I and tens if not hundreds of millions of other Americans will N-E-V-E-R trust or watch CNN again. The same goes for the rest of the corporate media. Once you show yourself to be dishonest and untrustworthy, you never come back.
They were talking about possible upcoming changes at CNN on Fox Business the other day. It will be interesting to see ...
