The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday sued Texas over the state’s new redistricting plan, alleging its map illegally undermines minority groups’ right to vote.
DOJ officials said that while the number of Latino and Black voters in Texas grew significantly over the last decade, the state’s new map dilutes minority voting strength in violation of federal law.
“The department’s career voting law experts have assessed Texas’s new redistricting plans and determined that they include districts that violate the Voting Rights Act,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said at a press conference announcing the lawsuit.
Mr Garland has no sense of where the state/Fed fences are.

OMG. The Feds never know when their authority ends and States’ rights begin. But then they probably do know. It’s their Marxist totalitarian precepts that ignore the 9th and 10th Amendments.
I’m guessing the court won’t have any problems with the question of “standing” in this case.
This is wave one for the next election. You will see this in every conservative state. Black dresses writing new laws to overturn elections.
Let’s see. Maryland Democrats are poised to redraw their districts favorable to Democrats so that they would have ALL EIGHT House seats.
That means lack of representation in Congress for all Republicans in that state.

How come redistricting to benefit “People of color” don’t disenfranchise whites?
Look up the 9th and 10th amendments. They give power to the States and yes the people who vote for them. The people voting aside, the States have the Constitutional power. The States just no longer exercise their power. I’ve always been a States proponent over Fedgov power.
They end wherever a sympathetic judge says they do since judges are the real overlords in the USA. So if you're a fascist that can't get things done legally or constitutionally, just keep filing lawsuits until you get one and when you do the world is your oyster.

He certainly has no sense, but he sure has a lot more dollars than any state does to throw around in order to mess up the legitimate rights of patriotic Americans.
The judge should dismiss the case - DOJ has no standing.
But this illustrates (again) how the demonkkkraps work. Notice they are using the re$ource$ of the feral givernment for political purposes, i.e. to change election landscape in a state that currently is GOP. Meanwhile, the inside the beltway GOPe is concerned about being nice guys with their friends across the aisle.
