Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is requiring all schools in the district to adopt new signage in an effort to make restrooms gender-neutral.
The initiative, which CPS is referring to as a "big step forward for gender equity," requires the schools to display language outside of restrooms informing students, whether they are male or female, that they may use the restroom that aligns with their gender identity.
"We’re requiring all schools to adopt new signage to make our restrooms more inclusive," CPS wrote in a tweet announcing the change. "This is a big step forward for gender equity for our students and staff."
The move not only impacts school children but also the staff. "All CPS students and staff will have fair and equitable access to bathroom facilities that align with their gender identity," CPS Title IX Officer Camie Pratt said of the change in a video shared to social media.
Pratt said the signage will "make it clear that all restrooms are open for use by anyone who feels comfortable." She also stated that the move is a step to "increase gender equity for all."

If your gender identity is pedophile and you express it by raping children you are welcome to use any restroom, because the school district’s goal is to make it more inclusive.
There’s no way you can cram ten one-stall bathrooms into the space where you used to have a ten-person shared bathroom. So the kids will have far fewer bathrooms. There are going to be lots of squirming kids in the classrooms and hands waving in the air.
Who is going to supervise the single-occupancy bathrooms for inappropriate behavior and rapes? Nobody.
What a disaster.
The level of idiocy is staggering.
Who in the world does this benefit?
I take it that none of these policy-makers have similar accommodations in their workplaces, and that their children attend private schools.
Have you ever gotten into line behind a woman in a nonspecific sex bathroom? What do women do in there?
Regulations for bathrooms are rediculous. There are federal, state, county and city regulations. You must meet them all. Your idea of one person bathrooms won’t work due to space use and wheelchair requirements.
“How about one restroom for people who pee standing up and another one for people who pee sitting down?”
About ten years ago I noticed new urinals were all bowl-like that expanded out. No more up against the wall style.
