ROCHESTER HILLS, MI — After briefly being the subject of a $10,000 manhunt, the parents of a teen who allegedly perpetrated a mass shooting at Oxford High School have been arraigned on criminal charges.
James R. Crumbley, 45, and Jennifer L. Crumbley, 43, on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 4, appeared before Oakland County District Judge Julie A. Nicholson for arraignment on four counts of involuntary manslaughter. The charge is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $7,500 fine.

One media report said that taking him home was an option, but so was leaving him in school.
I would like to see more facts to understand the charges for the crime charged. At a high level, it has the appearance they are being caught up in the emotions to find someone to blame as this kid might be a true mental basket case.
Despite this, many parents would be in shock and denial if called into school and being confronted with such information about killing and blood, etc. Even if they had seen such stuff before elsewhere. It’s similar to people denying their kid has a drug or alcohol addiction.
There was a case in Delaware over 30 years ago where a young man, only child, murdered his parents in their new expensive townhome. At least one of his parents was a psychiatrist who was well known in the state’s profession, may have actually been president of the body governing the state’s profession. Did they not see his son’s mental illness, something they were experts in treating other patients? Or were they in denial for 18 years? Or were they treating him with mind bending drugs? We’ll never know. But if the professionals “couldn’t see it” then, these non-psychiatrist parents cannot be held to a standard that they should have recognized the problem and the law required them to do something after the meeting at the school.
A fact that does not help the parents is that they fled when they knew they had to/agreed to surrender. That is usually interpreted as knowing they did something wrong. I’ll wait to see what facts come out, as the givernment has to prove its case.
The idiot parents were shown the note their son drew about killing people.
They were idiots/now liable for not going straight home and pulling every gun out of the house and hiding them until the son got mental health treatment.
Government officials never seem to be held accountable. The victims' parents will file lawsuits, but who pays?
Interesting how schools call police to arrest little children for acting up. But, a 15yo teen whose parents don't want to take him home? Well, he gets to stay.

Heard a man interviewed a couple of years ago. He mentioned some categories included in the "school shootings" statistics.
Said two adult guys shooting at each other from cars on the street near the school, with one or more bullets going across the campus line, or ricocheting there, counts as "a school shooting."
My opinion -
First, remember the [lying] media is reporting the “facts”.
Second, the parents may have been in denial of their son’s mental illness / reality for a long time. “Oh he’ll grow out of it ...” ... remember when we were growing up, so and so in the neighborhood was crazy, grew up and now he’s a US Senator,” etc. As I commented elsewhere, if they were in denial, it would be similar to parents denying a drug addicted child has a serious drug addiction.
Third, there are a lot of bad parents, and these may be in that club.
Fourth - I’ll wait for the trial. The fact that they appear to have done some suspicious things points to guilt. But we also heard that Kyle crossed state lines with a fire arm and he shot an unarmed paramedic.
There are a lot more murders by gang members under 18 than these schizo kids.
Is the AG in Michigan going to start prosecuting those parents?
They are not flight risks and they are not dangerous, so a case for high bail or no bail is missing.
I doubt they have a million dollars lying around.
Not flight risks? Didn't the police have to track them down and find where they were hiding? What is that if not demonstrating that they are indeed flight risks?
Naw. They would not even find the parents to prosecute for many of those kids.
The prosecutor has an agenda and it is NOT to see justice done
Hope you notice a different standard for white folks....100s of other school shooting and no parents. If they had beat the $hit out to the kid or searched his room...they ACLU would be all over the parents for being bad parents, etc.
They’d have to find half of them first.
Some decades ago I was engaged to a fine woman whose teenage son from her previous marriage had emotional issues. She was a conservative Republican, a gun owner and a NRA member. She also had enough basic common sense to recognize the risk and not leave her guns sitting around where her beloved son could get to them. Maybe the definition of “common sense” has changed since the 80’s? Not sure.
We had a student where I taught who reminds me of the kid in Michigan. His parents gave him access to guns including an AR-15. He was obviously disturbed and suspended several times. If someone was going to shoot up the school, we teachers all figured it would be him. His mother saw absolutely no problem with his having firearms and even defended his right to them. Sheriff was out to their home several times over complaints. Last I heard of him (four or five years ago) he was living in a tent on his parents’ property.
my take on this is the Parents of the Year were thinking about going to Canada and leaving their boy.

They’re trying the kid as an adult a charging the parents for leaving a firearm where a minor can access it.

When schools teach these young guys they are evil incarnate because their skin is the wrong color and because they have a penis, do they expect them to behave otherwise?
