Missouri gun group says Greitens should apologize for anti-SAPA rhetoric

“Unforgivable.” That’s the message a pro-gun rights organization is relaying to former Gov. Eric Greitens as he criticizes Missouri’s newest gun law while running for U.S. Senate.

At the heart of the issue is Missouri’s Second Amendment Preservation Act — dubbed SAPA — which took effect in August. It declares federal laws that could restrict gun ownership among law-abiding Missourians as “invalid” and restricts law enforcement officers from enforcing federal firearm regulations that could be deemed invalid under the law.

SAPA has garnered national media attention, and some prosecutors and law enforcement officers have expressed concern that the law could hinder them from working with federal officers to curb violent crime — an argument made by Greitens, a Republican, as he runs for U.S. Senate.

“Unfortunately some of the career politicians and the RINOs [Republicans In Name Only] … what they’ve done in this bill, is they’ve actually defunded police,” Greitens said in a recent radio interview, using the pejorative for Republicans who may be viewed as left-leaning.

The former governor continued to argue police officers have been pulled off task forces targeting violent criminals

In a lengthy video, Aaron Dorr of the Missouri Firearms Coalition implored Greitens to apologize to grassroots gun owners and the Republican bill sponsors, Rep. Jered Taylor and Sen. Eric Burlison, calling his comments “virtually unforgivable.” Dorr also pushed back against the arguments that SAPA defunds the police or prevents work with federal officers.

“Every single thing he said on the policy was an embarrassment, and it was wrong, and it was a lie,” Dorr said.

He has a tendency to do that.

What do we have in MO? St Loius, KC and Springfield. St Louis with it’s commie gov and just-us, are going to do whatever commie thing they’re going to do. Same with KC though I don’t think it’s as bad. Springfield is just a small city and fairly conservative albeit a little weird culturally.

The rest of MO is deep red rural with 3-5 churches in every small town. There is no need for fedgov/DOJ/OSHA or anything else. We manage own affairs.

(Greitens served as Missouri's 56th governor for 1.5 years before he resigned amid campaign finance and sexual misconduct allegations while facing possible impeachment.)

I guess he has guessed that Missourians have forgotten. Politicians never cease to amaze me.

Another Rhodes Scholar, another modern SEAL that would happily turn against US gun owners. Bottom line, you cant count on this guy in a fight.

Also like Crenshaw from Texas, Chelsea Clinton and others, he is a DAVOS guy. Yeah, another gobalist minion of Klaus Schwab.

You bring up a really good point. But, you have to look to the administrations, law enforcement-courts-administrative, in all those cities. Something happens, the incompetents in those cities immediately look to the Feds for help or for the Feds to take the lead. And they’ll always use the same line....we don’t have the assets to investigate this as thoroughly, so we’ll turn this over to the FBI/DOJ and assist.

Toss in the multiple task forces that federal law enforcement agencies have, out of necessity for some, and they toss all sorts of money and goodies to lure folks in. If you’re a Sheriff or Police Chief in a small agency or you’re hurting for money, you can put a deputy/officer on a task force and generate some money for the agency. For some, it’s hard to pass up.

On top of all of that, look to one of the most used parts of this equation: Homeland Security Grants. They throw money and equipment at anyone that asks for it. Just draft a grant request, make it sound like Al Queda and Hamas are digging tunnels into the town square and, voila, you have a brand new Bearcat, worth about $400k in the parking lot.

Hence the need for any red state to start extracting themselves from all things fedgov because it’s been taken over by the left. So Greitens is wrong because he’s concerned about losing those fed ties. If it’s something like interstate crime, that’s fine but gun laws? No Now that Eric Schmidt is running, I think he’ll be the primary winner. He just fought back the CMS covid crap and so far, won. People are very socially conservative here and Greiten’s sordid affairs don’t play well. In the end, he did at least cheat on his wife.

Trump needs to look into this before making a commitment...
