The teenage suspect in the killing of Temple University student Samuel Collington during a botched carjacking over the weekend surrendered to police Wednesday, officials said in a statement without elaborating.
Earlier, officials had identified Latif Williams, 17, of Olney, as the person they said shot the 21-year-old Collington on Sunday on the 2200 block of North Park Avenue, near the school’s North Philadelphia campus. The student had just returned after spending the Thanksgiving holiday with his family in Prospect Park, Delaware County.
Lawyers representing Williams — Patrick Link and Marni Jo Snyder — said in an emailed statement: “Latif was fully cooperative with police upon learning of his arrest warrant, and he turned himself in voluntarily this evening. We are in the process of investigating the facts of this case and we expect his presumption of innocence to be maintained throughout the judicial proceedings.”
Investigators said they used video and forensic evidence found at the scene to link Williams to the killing, and law enforcement sources said he is under investigation in connection with several armed robberies in the area.

Black thug kills white student..there’s something the commie media wont report on..doesn’t fit the narrative..or as Psaki says, its all due to the pandemic
“Anti-Racism” is dog-whistle for “Kill Whitey.”
Death penalty. Oh wait, his is NY.
My bad …. Pa.
Another psycho bob look-a-like
0Bammy’s sons strike again.
When will it end?
Why should they arrest him? They will just release him to kill again.
More reactionary, stupid journalism. Its not dentistry or plastic surgery, carjackings that don't end in murder are accepted as routine?
“a botched carjacking”
What exactly is an un-botched car jacking?
I suppose it’s when the car is stolen and the crook gets away.
A bit more editorial bias for sure.
Years ago Temple University was known as a dangerous college to attend. I know a family who pulled their daughter out her first year after being attacked going to class.
Arrested and released for a similar crime just months ago. Carjacking is a serious crime with deadly implications, and they let this creep go. These stories are almost a daily occurrence.
There is no such thing as an angry Whit Man today. There is only the White Man on his knees so he won’t have as far to fall when he gets knocked down.
Death penalty. Oh wait, his is NY.>>> PA actually the kid was from the next town over from me. We do still have death penalty. Mumia is still on death row 40 years later. So defacto no.
My buddy was doing off campus housing rehabs along the corridor of a few blocks either side of broad street. Had a lot of cameras and Temple police seriously patrolled that corridor but... A block further over was no mans land.
“Years ago Temple University was known as a dangerous college to attend. I know a family who pulled their daughter out her first year after being attacked going to class.”
I had heard the same about Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. And then I was there in mid-September picking up some JH sweatshirts for my great-niece.
I was amazed at how much security there was on the actual campus and extending out at least 6 blocks (or more) in all directions. They weren’t armed but they were definite security - green safety vests, phones, etc. They worked in groups of two. You couldn’t go a black w/o running into them.
Best just to avoid Philadelphia altogether. Bad place to even drive thru.
Collington was an avowed communist who hated the police and wanted to defund and disband them. Look at his FB likes and timeline. He belonged to communist groups
One less commie
About 10 years ago, one of my sons was doing grad work at U.Penn. He said Center City (around U. Penn) was safe, but once you got a few blocks away into the 'hood, the change was stark and sudden. Temple was known to be in dangerous territory back then.
