What’s happening between China and Taiwan should put those of us who fear a major outbreak of war on high alert.
hen the Department of Defense released its annual report on Chinese military strength in early November, one claim generated headlines around the world. By 2030, it suggested, China would probably have 1,000 nuclear warheads—three times more than at present and enough to pose a substantial threat to the United States. As a Washington Post headline put it, typically enough: “China accelerates nuclear weapons expansion, seeks 1,000 warheads or more, Pentagon says.”
The media, however, largely ignored a far more significant claim in that same report: that China would be ready to conduct “intelligentized” warfare by 2027, enabling the Chinese to effectively resist any US military response should it decide to invade the island of Taiwan, which they view as a renegade province. To the newsmakers of this moment, that might have seemed like far less of a headline-grabber than those future warheads, but the implications couldn’t be more consequential. Let me, then, offer you a basic translation of that finding: As the Pentagon sees things, be prepared for World War III to break out any time after January 1, 2027.
To appreciate just how terrifying that calculation is, four key questions have to be answered. What does the Pentagon mean by “intelligentized” warfare? Why would it be so significant if China achieved it? Why do US military officials assume that a war over Taiwan could erupt the moment China masters such warfare? And why would such a war over Taiwan almost certainly turn into World War III, with every likelihood of going nuclear?

Bingo.
WWI was the result of the various leaders not really understanding the dynamics of the situation and by the time they did it was too late.
WWIII may begin the same way.
However if we step back and look at what is going we would see that China has been waging war against the west for decades. It is said that China always plays the long game.
They are in a better position to use bribes and threats then actual military action and in this they may start WWIII when they bluff someone and that someone calls their bluff.
Can China do a lot of damage and kill a lot of people, yes.
Can China win a war? No.
China has overplayed their hand and nations around the world are waking up to the threat to the world that China has become. They have no allies, they have no friends.
If a shooting war begins all of China’s import/exports stop.
No supplies coming in and nothing going out (which stops the flow of money into China).
Look at the effect of China’s action against Australia when they stopped buying their coal. Australia was not hurt but China’s economy is taking a hit.
China is not Germany where it was an easy road trip to Paris. Moving troops to Taiwan would be a logistic nightmare one I don’t think the Chinese are able to over come.
So WWIII when it comes will Chinese using their surrogates (paid 5th columnist if you will) to hinder the west in recovery and perhaps the release of more biological warfare virus.
You can’t win a war when your (China’s) troops don’t have enought to eat. China’s economy and population are in peril. Communism doesn’t work long term.
China wants to take over Taiwan because that would give them…..
China is a use it or lose mode.
They face a demographic crash courtesy of their old “One Child’ policy. Their economy is a house of cards.
They have go all out now, because they won’t have that option later.
We need to understand China’s military strength. Its not that great. They talk about taking Taiwan back and then they talk some more. If that doesn’t work they really talk about it.
