'Guns don't just go off': Sheriff and gun expert cast doubt on Alec Baldwin's claim he did NOT pull the trigger on set of 'Rust' - but attorney of movie's AD backs the star up

A sheriff and gun expert are expressing doubt about Alec Baldwin's claim that he did not pull the trigger on the set of the film Rust, despite an attorney for the film's assistant director backing up the actor's claim.

'The trigger wasn't pulled, I didn't pull the trigger,' the actor told George Stephanopoulos in an interview set to air Thursday night, often having to pause to collect himself as he discussed the death of Halyna Hutchins.

-snip-

Bryan W. Carpenter, a weapons armorer who works for Dark Thirty Film Services, said that this is highly unlikely.

'In order to make it fire, you have to put your thumb up onto the hammer, cock the hammer all the way back, and then as the hammer is completely cocked back, then you pull the trigger and then the gun fires,' Carpenter told Fox News. 'So that's very important because that gun had to have two step process to fire. It had to be cocked and the trigger pulled to fire.'

Carpenter continued: 'Once you cock the hammer back on one of those old west guns, it doesn't take a lot to set that trigger off.'

His comments come after Santa Fe Sheriff Adan Mendoza told the outlet that 'guns don't just go off. So whatever needs to happen to manipulate the firearm, [Baldwin] did that and it was in his hands.'

"When asked if the shooting was the worst thing that ever happened to him, Baldwin replied: 'Yes. Yes, yes."

Pretty sure it was even worse for Halyna, Jackwad.

Doubtless the forensic lab will determine the force needed to cause the trigger to release the hammer of that particular firearm.

Gun safety rules are not laws.

Weren’t there two shots fired?

No. One shot went completely through the first person and into the body of the second.

It was a fast draw. Cocking hammer is part of the draw.

.
All we got the first two weeks was lies from his PR team.

He was playing with gun, and they weren’t shooting that scene - dollars to donuts.

This is a convoluted story for kindergartens.

Ballistic shields are industry standard when pointing a gun at camera or crew.

They weren’t filming that scene. Hot shot Alec was fvvvking around.

What does he mean guns don’t go off by themselves? Has he ever watched the News on TV? Most of the TV News Stations have been telling us about guns needlessly killing people all on thier own for years.

He wasn’t drug or alcohol tested and from what I read, after a bit, he left the scene.

Those phone calls he was pictured making were probably to his agent and lawyer. Just sayin’.

I did read he got tested maybe the next day (?) but at that point, what does that matter? He ALLEGEDLY shot and killed someone. He should have been detained and tested.

Yep, the press will buy Baldwin’s lies - they’re stupid and corrupt...

I think the same round hit two people, but I may be wrong.

Yes yes. Single action revolvers can have very light triggers. None of this changes that fact that he had to cock it first. And if you let the hammer slip on those old pistols without transfer bar safeties they can go off too. And if you drop them with a live round under the hammer even when it isn’t cocked it can go off. This is why you NEVER POINT AT GUN AT ANYTHING YOU DON’T INTEND TO SHOOT.

He still held the gun. He is still responsible for its discharge, accidental or not. These lawyers are just trying to confuse the issue and give the Soros DA an excuse to let Barwin off scot free.

“Involuntary manslaughter often refers to unintentional homicide from criminally negligent or reckless conduct. It can also refer to an unintentional killing through the commission of a crime other than a felony.”

https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/homicide-murder-manslaughter-32637-2.html

So if he thought the gun was a prop, he still aimed it at someone without checking the chamber. It looks as if he admitted guilt to at least involuntary manslaughter due to his negligence. The person he aimed the gun at was NOT another actor during the filming of a scene.

My position all along. And even if it did shoot all by itself it didn’t point at somebody all by itself.

They’ve completely forgotten her in their rush to defend Arec. Unfortunately this incident hasn’t lowered my opinion of the press. It already couldn’t get any lower.

And he,and the 99.9% leftist media, are going to repeat this sick lie, enough times, until it becomes the truth!
