ON THE BRINK Russia warns war with Ukraine is ‘highly likely’ and puts troops on ‘combat readiness’ as US vows to respond to invasion

RUSSIA has warned war is 'highly likely' with Ukraine following orders to troops to remain 'combat ready' after speculation of a Ukrainian invasion.

The Kremlin has said that Kiev's desire to retake Crimea is "direct threat", as the US vows to respond following growing reports of a Russian invasion.

Tensions between Ukraine and Russia have been escalating over recent weeks, with Moscow having massed troops within striking distance of its neighbour’s borders.

Vladimir Putin has also ordered US officials to leave Russia immediately amid fears he plans to order an invasion of Ukraine, before the end of January.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in parliament that Crimea - which Moscow seized in 2014 - was Ukrainian territory and Kiev's goal was to 'liberate' it, focusing on diplomatic solutions.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow is worried about the possibility of a Ukrainian military move.

He said: "Speaking in parliament, Zelensky said that the return of Crimea should be the main goal and philosophy of Ukraine.

"We see this as a direct threat to Russia.

“Ukriane isn’t a vital US national interest, it sits right on the Russian border, and much of it was traditionally Russian from the days of the Kievan Rus. Starting to hear a bit on this site of the old John McCain “We are all Ukrainians” now. Not me, let William Kristol lead the volunteers to the battle lines.”

You’re correct.
The “lets get in a war with Russia crowd,” should clarify their position.

Who dies? And Why?

My position is not “one drop of blood” of our military will be spilled in Ukraine.

Now if mercenaries want to form “Adam Vindman Brigades” and die in Russia or Ukraine.
I say “go for it.”

“if China arranged a split of California out from the USA”

You’re spouting nonsense. Nobody carved anything out of Russia. In fact, the opposite occurred, since Russia-backed insurgents are illegally occupying sovereign territory of Ukraine and not the other way around.

Yep, we did nothing about Crimea and Biden was around for that. There’s also no way we get into a shooting war with China over Taiwan. I’m surprised they’ve waited this long.

If Texas had seceded thirty years ago it would probably be too powerful by now for any other country to mess with.

Remember what Bob Dole said in the Presidential debate in 1996 about "Democrat wars"? He was roundly abused for it.

But it was, and is, the truth.

Not a Putin lover but the Ukrainians helped develop the Steele Dossier and conspired against our POTUS. I say they can lay in the bed they made.

I know that people like to throw that around. But even with China’s massive military advantage an invasion of Taiwan by no means has a certainty of success. China doesn’t even properly train for the beaches they will actually face, for starters. And the entire world will know when they are coming. It won’t be anything like Normandy.

China wants The West to give in without a fight. In any conventional scenario China’s Army and Navy would be seriously brutalized leaving the Nation open to attacks by India. Never forget India when considering China. The quality of Chinese troops has been very clearly pointed out during the recent border skirmishes.

Anyone with any sense can see what will happen if Putin decides to go into the rest of the Ukraine.

With all the floppy paw crap going on in Europe with the covid, mostly caused by senseless political perverts, it doesnt take much to come up with the conclusion of what will be the result of such an invasion.

Russia will be at the Dnieper within a few weeks if they invade from the east to the west. They will be into the Crimea within a few if they invade south along the Dnieper.
The Euro nations get more of their warships into the Black sea and there will be some real interesting accidents. happening.
And Pig Face Bidet and his sonny boy will have to forget about all those payoffs from the corrupt people in the Ukraine.

From the responses to your post I guess nobody remembers or nobody cares. Are the Russians gathering Ukranian uniforms?

Retake Crimea ? The coup government never possessed it. Not unless you think seizing a Capitol makes you the owner of everything the old nation had.
When you do a coup you only get what you can grab by force. Why? Because everybody else has the same right to grab what they can. Crimea is gone. And it’s never going to be a native Navy base.Whether we like it or not, Russia is about as likely to turn over Crimea to the NATO as we would be to turn over San Diego to China. Well, that’s probably not a good analogy, we would be likely to do something like that.

Yes. In addition the largest open pit iron mine in Europe, Antonov aircraft company, warm water port at Odessa, etc. Putin wants Ukraine back.

Exactly. There is a reason Ukraine is not part of NATO.

Wasn’t this all predicted in the Mitch Rapp book “Red War” except that Russia invades Latvia after a false buildup for Ukraine? Kyle Mills is always ahead of the curve.

I think that this is about the best analogy so far and I don’t blame Russia at all keeping western interests away from their doorstep. Be a lot better if he US would clean up their own mess, before sticking their nose where it doesn’t belong.

When hunter biden stand at the front of the frontline. I will agree to this insanity. However, the Biden’s and most of Congreve see our sons, daughter, wives, husbands and all the military as pawns exchanged for their power.
