Now, imagine that you’re a company that provides certain critical infrastructure but you need electricity to operate and you’re regulated so you can’t hike prices. With doubled input costs wiping out your ability to stay solvent, then what? You shut down!
The question I have - given the ideological insanity and total leftist political monopoly of California, what keeps it afloat?
Certainly it must still has many advantages?
Beyond a Captain Obvious moment for Andrea Widburg?
Someone memo her and enlighten Ms Andrea Widburg that Cancerfornia has long, long, like decades worth of long, been destroying it economy.
What about airplanes you Californian wackos?
New rule, nothing that is transported on a ship or truck can go into California. That included Amazon, Fed Ex and UPS.
Let them eat their own.
Gotta pay for all those illegals!
“his is a big deal, costing tens of millions per dock, and, of course, it’s going to require foreign-owned ships to spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions, per ship to make the conversions necessary to comport with the new law.”
I thought the infrastructure bill is meant for things like this.
Yet there are still a majority that will allow this state, and likewise states, to drag the rest of the states into the hole.
Explain that to those of us who favor SECESSION.
Are there that many in this country with such low morals that they enjoy being abused?
I keep hearing California is going to destroy their economy. Then hear that California has a budget surplus of 76 billion dollars. That’s a pretty nice bunch of change.
What we need is a federal law that all California residents who voted democrat are not allowed to move out of state.
In 2027, they’re going to require all ships in California ports to turn off their onboard generators and run only onshore power.
Like the port will have enough places to put all the ships duh ensues.
It’s high time about 47 State Attorneys General gang up and sue the bejeezus out of f’n CA.
Seems like this piece is making a mountain out of a molehill. The vast majority of ships, from yachts to mega-cargo ships have shore power hookups, and the piers in all of our ports have shore power at each berth. This requirement began back in 2017 at 50% of each fleet and ramps up to 100% over a decade. Sure there will be a fee for power and of course longshore union electricians to connect and disconnect the shore power. So, your cheap chinese imports will cost a few cents more.
California still has an economy? Newsome can’t even do anything wrong right.
” The rate hike is going to mean a massive jobs exodus out of this state.”
Hopefully people too.
Not hard to make the argument that CA is now a serious threat to national security.
Too bad the Mexicans make it difficult for foreigns to buy land, or I’d put some money into a Baja port.
Maybe the Chicoms could build one there.
P
They also want to ban gas powered lawn mowers. That’s going to hurt the elite’s lawn crews and swing the illegal vote.
