Far-right Proud Boys march through Long Island streets, alarming local pols

Members of the far-right Proud Boys group marched through Rockville, LI, over the weekend, storming into stores and disrupting shoppers, according to video and reports.

About 20 members of the organization — classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and Anti-Defamation League — took over a street Saturday while clad in black, their faces covered by bandanas, and hoisting “Don’t Tread on Me” flags as they blared rap music from a truck, video shows.

I am not convinced they were Proud Boys. But if they were Antifa or BLM, they knew they can only get away with arson and looting under their own flag.

Why TF would a fake Proud Boys group march peacefully down the street.

Even if they were legitimate, 20 marchers out of the 2.9 million people of suburban Long Island is not even a blip on the radar. The events of January 6th and in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017 have scared away a lot of people who might be inclined to join with such organizations. I suspect the FBI is having a hard time trying to gin up a credible “far right” threat.
