New York declares a health-care state of emergency over a Covid variant that doesn’t exist in the state

Good. Declare emergencies in all of the blue cities and states. Heck, even in some of the red cities. Come on, Brandon! Declare a nationwide emergency. Locked down international travel. Declare a vaccination mandate for all air travel. Shut down everything except for the southern border. People need to pay for their complacency against their own government officials. I would prefer an implosion instead of a slow crawl toward slavery.

I suspect they were already beginning to panic in the state of New York, and the so-called "Omicron" variant caused this clueless woman to freak out entirely.

Despite its supposed high vaccination rate -- i.e., reported by the CDC to be 79.1% of the population age 12 and older, and 86.7% of the population age 65 and older -- the state of New York experienced an increase in COVID deaths of some 192% in August 2021, compared to August 2020 (when, of course, no one in the state had yet been vaccinated).

In September 2021, New York experienced an increase in COVID deaths of 160%, compared to (pre-vax) September 2020. For October 2021, the increase in COVID deaths compared to (pre-vax) October 2020 was 186%.

For whatever reason (and there are various possible explanations for it, I suppose), things have taken a decided turn for the worse in the state of New York in recent months, as far as COVID deaths are concerned. And winter hasn't even arrived.

The “never let a crisis go to waste” party sure does love to declare those “states of emergency.”

Gov. Kathy Hochul signed an executive order Friday to postpone elective hospital surgeries.

How would this B$tch define elective surgeries as noted below, as necessary or as don’t do them?

Cardiac stents to be implanted? Cardiac pace makers to be implanted?

Cancer operations to remove cancers from patients’ brains, breasts, uterus’s, prostrates or testicles or where ever?

Knee or hip replacements to replace knees or hips wearing out, due to arthritis, accidents and old age?

Replacement of shoulders damaged due to accidents or arthritis?

Carpal Tunnel surgery to enable one to work again?

Toe removal,foot surgery or hand surgery to enable a patient to walk, stand or work without pain

Will, she and unknown/named doctors and non doctors form committees to decide what surgeries will be done or not done in the State of NY!

Why is each year supposed to follow the pattern of the previous year, month by month? But if you want to do that, at least wait until January. January 2021 had 200 deaths a day. January 2022 will probably be 20 a day, especially if we import the new and even less deadly variant.

It is not just that they haven't observed it in New York yet (or the United States, I believe), but in the place where they first observed it - South Africa (and/or Botswana) - I thought that they said the symptoms were mild/asymptomatic. I.e., basically a low grade cold (or nothing).

And they want to jump through hoops over this?
As others noted, this is just Government continuing to try and stomp on our collective necks.

Well, for one thing, comparing a particular month in 2020 to the same month in 2021 eliminates the potentially confounding effect of "seasonality." For another, the one thing we know for certain is that no one in the U.S. had been vaccinated in 2020 -- a few had in December 2020, I suppose -- whereas many millions have now been, as we approach the end of 2021.

This pandemic has now been going on long enough that it is possible to make such a comparison of pre- and post-vax months, on both a national and a state-specific level. One might think that, if the vaccines truly did work to "prevent death" or "lessen death," then deaths would be down in 2021, compared to the same time in 2020 (again, the month-to-month comparison being intended to eliminate the "seasonality" confounder).

And, as it happens, deaths were down through July 2021. Then things changed, rather radically, starting in August 2021. In September 2021, COVID deaths nationwide increased 220%, compared to September 2020. Every state in the U.S., save one, experienced that increase, to some degree or another.

I don't understand the comment about "waiting until January." Why? January 2022 will bring whatever it brings. There were over 105,000 COVID deaths in the U.S. in January 2021 alone. I very much hope that figure goes down. Will it? That is something we'll just have to wait to see. But why the animosity towards pointing out what we'rI e seeing now?

I'm not worried about COVID. I trust in my Lord and Savior, not in "medical science," doctors, or politicians. I am worried about infringements on my liberty. Vaccines mandates and the like do worry me.

Sounds as though it will move fast once it gets here. Remember NYC not like other places in the US. She is right on this.
