The global demand for luxury private jets is booming as elites ignore irregular commercial travel options and fly their own way as coronavirus restrictions linger around the world.
In the U.S. alone, business jet take-offs and landings are up 40 percent year-on-year on the back of unprecedented demand from the super rich.
Theyβre at their highest point since before the 2008 financial crisis, partly driven by the pandemic as big companies expanded private jet privileges for their top executives, MSNBC reports.
The story is the same around the world.
More than 4.2m private jet flights have taken place this year, according to aviation data provider WingX, with the Financial Times outlining a record number in each of the past six months. In the first week of November they were up 54 per cent on the same period last year, and up 16 per cent on 2019.
Demand is so high that Flexjet has stopped taking on new customers for its entry-level Jet Card programme. So has NetJets, which has reported the highest demand for flying in its near 60-year history and is investing about $2.5bn in 100 new aircraft, according to the FT.
The push is coming from the rich, the famous, from Wall Street to Hollywood and beyond.

While they lecture us to give up our standard of living and pay their weather taxes.
How dare you!
Yeah, you ain’t safe in first class so better pick up a mid-sized jet. You gotta stay safe.
As far as airlines go, first class is a joke compared to what it used to be.
The airlines are flying prisons.
That isn’t a private jet in the picture. It’s a private plane, perhaps a turboprop.
Crickets from the Greenies and Eco-Wackos.
Good catch. Saw that too.
Apparently, this demand for private jets is creating a demand of qualified pilots and co pilots.
Retired pilots and new pilots are in high demand.
A round trip from N. California to Southern California for a pilot flying one plane down and then piloting another plane back up,(or the reverse), in the same day can apparently be huge $’s, for a pilot.

ββββββββ
Itβs a turboprop; propeller is driven by a jet engine.

To paraphrase Michael Corleone, the contempt for money and fine living is a trick developed by leftist elites to keep the poor without it.

Back in the 60s and 70s, peasant class was 1000 times what first class is today. And the flight attendants were required to be super model hot unlike today where they are exclusively oprah sized and eleventy billion years old or effeminate gay males where they can only make up the fuel cost by charging 50 bucks a bag. Give me asian airlines or even air Qatar any day
So many of them in landing patterns waiting to bring dignitaries to the climate change conferences airports. All those jet fuel exhaust trails in circles. And the limo drivers in large SUVs with idling engines waiting below.
Hotel phone to room service: “This is Antoine in 2119. Remember the three thick Porterhouse steaks I arranged for? Well grill them and bring them up. we’re starving. And call them “tofu arugula salads” on the hotel bill.”
The Inner Party will not tolerate the proles pointing out the Inner Party’s hypocrisy.
I thought it was an assault rifle.
Private jets do not burn fossil fuels — only commercial jets do. /s
Military jets burn olive oil.
