China's disappearing ships: The latest headache for the global supply chain
CNN ^ | 26 November 2021 | Laure He

Hong Kong (CNN Business)Ships in Chinese waters are disappearing from industry tracking systems, creating yet another headache for the global supply chain. China's growing isolation from the rest of the world — along with a deepening mistrust of foreign influence — may be to blame. Analysts say they started noticing the drop-off in shipping traffic toward the end of October, as China prepared to enact legislation governing data privacy. Usually, shipping data companies are able to track ships worldwide because they are fitted with an Automatic Identification System, or AIS, transceiver.

This system allows ships to send information — such as position, speed, course and name — to stations that are based along coastlines using high-frequency radio. If a ship is out of range of those stations, the information can be exchanged via satellite. But that's not happening in the world's second-largest economy, a critical player in global trade. In the past three weeks, the number of vessels sending signals from the country has plunged by nearly 90%, according to data from the global shipping data provider VesselsValue. "We are currently seeing an industry wide reduction in terrestrial AIS signals in China," said Charlotte Cook, head trade analyst at VesselsValue.

The ships are disappearing because China is going to modify them (or has done it already) to use them for troop transports. The Chinese are preparing for an invasion somewhere. Don't want anyone to know where the ships are located. All of OUR cargo ships are being tracked and can easily be destroyed so we can NOT do the same with commercial transports. Why people can not see this baffles me.

When I read a NINETY PECENT drop in Chinese AIS data, that immediately sent my fears up. I was expecting maybe a 5% to 10% drop. That means almost all Chinese ships have gone invisible and certainly suggests something nefarious is afoot.

I hope DOD can find some time after the tranny and racism training and rooting out white supremacists to investigate this.

re: “to stations that are based along coastlines using high-frequency radio”

No, they use VHF radio, not HF radio. Geez ...

(VHF is classically referred to as “line of sight” too)

This is a huge deal. China has been quietly converting their cargo ships to dual use troop landers. Taiwan better be ready.

There are 7 or 8 online tracking services which use the transponder on a ship to maintain it’s location. Fishing ships which are in illegal waters routinely turn their transponders off to avoid detection.

China is a past master at this, turning theirs off, fishing, then running to their main cargo vessel just outside the 200 mile limit. They refuel, drop off the fish and move to another spot to do so again. They destroyed Sierra Leones fish breeding areas doing this.

When they say 90% have turned theirs off, you need to look at where they were when it went offline.

re: “That means almost all Chinese ships have gone invisible and certainly suggests something nefarious is afoot.”

Well, there is OTH HF (Over the horizon high frequency) RADAR that can still detect and locate ships at sea, but you won’t be reading much about that in public circles ...

First of all, I trust CNN about as much as I trust the Chinese CCP.

Preparing for invasion is an extreme scenario. But one thing is for sure - Xi Jinping has decided China is no longer going play along with the US-lead western globalist order.

We made the mistake of allowing them to join WTO, and take our manufacturing jobs.

Now supply chains are at China’s mercy.

This is not an impossibility. Also modifying a large container ship to be missile launch platforms or even slapping a deck and elevator in and making an quick aircraft carrier (Re: Atlantic Conveyor). Imagine China deploying a dozen aircraft carriers to support the Taiwan invasion.

Maybe the PLAN hope to disable a few more inattentive American ships first before the balloon goes up for real.

Even if not all the ships are being used for troop shipments, returning ships to port is an important precursor to war, because them being flatfooted on open water would be problematic.

I think they’ll use them as Civilian Migration transports. From my home page

The chinese will send a sampan navy with 10million “internal migration” civilians armed with CNN uplinks, cameras, and bullhorns. When they get mowed down by our side, the resulting negative PR will be amplified by the chinese knocking out 2 of our aircraft carriers in the blockade with their hypersonic ICBM thermally guided antiship missiles.
America will luze stomach for the fight over what it already calls an internal province of China. Taiwan has never declared independence.
About a third of civilians in Taiwan are ethnic Chinese and maybe only half of them have loyalties and fifth column tendencies towards communist China. They have hundreds of thousands of cargo ships they can fill with civilians armed with cameras, CNN uplinks, and bullhorns.
The resultant slaughter will be live on CNN and the PR backlash will be enough to let China walk right back into their own internal (never did declare independence) province. If we blockade them, they’ll lob thermal-capable antiship ICBM missiles at our aircraft carriers and CNN will record them sinking to the bottom of the sea with the resultant nuclear plume.
America will luze stomach for the fight after luzing a couple $Trillion in carriers and tens of thousands of men in one afternoon, all seen on CNN, with our recourse being... to slaughter civilians. China has all the cards, they just have to lay them down on the table at this point.
And when it’s all over but the shouting, the RINOs and GOPes and democraps will be handwringing, hoping for a quick way to order chinese chips & electronics from Amazon. The chinese want the continued business of globalists so it’ll all be “can’t we just get along” and “water under the bridge” as soon as China is in charge and chips are shipping.

There are some updated conversations regarding the sampan civilian navy internal migration approach.

I see hundreds of ships in the East Pacific, most of them not identified, except to say “Cargo vessel/Tanker, Position received via Satellite”.

I think these are the Chinese ships.

See for yourself on this great online ship tracker software:

These ships should not be allowed to dock in the US if they have ever turned off their tracking system
