...As residents took to the streets on Friday after the end of a 36-hour lockdown in Honiara, however, there was not yet any sign of the Australian peacekeepers, according to local journalist Georgina Kekea. And rioting continued in the center and east of the city.
“It still hasn’t settled,” Kekea said in an interview. “I’ve been to Chinatown. There is basically nothing left there. There are only six buildings that are still standing, but otherwise most of the shops have been looted and burned. Scavengers are now … trying to look for whatever they can to carry back home.”..
...Many of the protesters came to Honiara, on the island of Guadalcanal, from Malaita, the most populous island in the archipelagic nation in the South Pacific, about 1,000 miles northeast of Australia.
Tensions have simmered between the two islands since the national government switched diplomatic allegiance from Taiwan to China in 2019...

Over communist China... interesting.
Was this one of those “mostly peaceful” things? Or, has the mainstream media hasn’t figured out if they’re on the side of the rioters?
Protestors are not violent. The lengths people go to to not call the rioters.
Of course it was... didn't you read... there were six buildings still standing. /s
Yesterday, we read that the island chain to the east, Kiribati, is considering giving the Chinese access to commercial fishing in their waters. Which means that the fleet will strip all marine life from any island chains on the way to strip Kiribati resources. Maybe in the near future, both chains can import seafood from Australia ...
Let's hope this one is not as bloody as the first.
the poor and unedumacated of Haiti have stripped everything from the ocean around the island and it is now a desert where nothing is, not an ounce of fish or reef growth,.
Small wonder that the DR enforces their border.
My dad was in the Salomon islands.
The problem then was with the Japanese.

Are you comparing the CCP’s 10s of thousands of fishing boats with Haitians? Or are you implying its common practice and no big deal?
He Aussie troops were likely delayed because they had been busy rounding up the unvaccinated Aussies and putting them in concentration camps.
the Chinese fleet goes to an area and takes everything making the area a wasteland such as has happened in Haiti.
It is a big deal as it leaves nothing for the future.
Quit reading crap in to every thing.

Thank you for the Thanksgiving ad hominem! So bracing!!! And to think, I just asked you two simple questions! Neither of which you answered directly.
All of which stemmed from your mitigation of the incomprehensible marine damage the Chinese fleet is doing in the Pacific Ocean by comparing it to the tiny spot off Haiti in the Caribbean. The see-they-do-it-too argument.
How much is the CCP paying you for your efforts to mitigate their rape of the world’s oceans?
