Making legitimate expenses. Probably paying rent on an office in his house.

Beto is all ego. In his last campaign, thousands showed up for what was called a Beto O’Rourke rally. LOL! Willie Nelson was with him for a free concert.

As I’ve long observed: most run for office simply as a bill-paying job, with little expectation of winning. Convince enough to donate enough, hire some staff to keep working the circuit, pay everyone including self a comfortable salary, makes for a good paying occupation for a few months or years. Sock away surplus, make connections, sell the product on and off the campaign. If you happen to win, great. If not, the profit and perks and popularity were fun and useful.

Texas has always attracted total nutjobs to run for governor.

Ma Richards, Carole Keeton Strayhorn Rylander, Abortion Barbie, Kinky Friedman. And now of course, The Dirt Eating, Cow Loving, Dress Wearing Mexican wanna-be.

Of course he draws a salary, and writes off every expense he can leverage.

He will live like a king on campaign funds..... all his living expenses are paid by the campaign. I don’t think its about the money for him though - he is a narcissist. He loves the campaign trail and having media types drool over him and girls screaming like he is one of the Beatles.

He already has a lot of money. I think he just loves the fawning supporters and drooling media interviews.

It is a form of self-gratification and excitement. He craves it.

...most run for office simply as a bill-paying job, with little expectation of winning.

It's money-laundering and bribes, just like book deals and selling garbage paintings. The political candidate is often just someone taking their cut as the facilitator.

Robert “Beto” O’Rouke’s armed bodyguards need to be thrown out of any event that they show up at, citing O’Rourke’s opposition to firearms.

It’s going to be really funny when Beto won’t even beat out Matthew McConaughey.

I’m saddened by this. Not because of the reaction, but because it’s at all newsworthy.
This should be the standard reception for termites in red areas.
