‘It Was Insane’; Dozens Of Looters Ransack Walnut Creek Nordstrom Store-(not looters organized gangs)

WALNUT CREEK (CBS SF) — Dozens of looters swarmed into the Nordstrom store in downtown Walnut Creek Saturday night, terrorizing shoppers, ripping off bag loads of merchandise and ransacking shelves before fleeing in a several vehicles waiting for them on the street.

Walnut Creek Lt. Ryan Hibbs told KPIX 5 that police began receiving calls about the looting at around 9 p.m. He said there were approximately 80 individuals who ran into the store and began looting and smashing shelves.

Video shot at the scene shows the masked looters streaming out of the store, carrying bags and boxes, jumping into the cars.

Dozens of police vehicles also responded to the scene.

Hibbs said officers stopped one vehicle and arrested both suspects — a male and a female — inside. The male was charged with robbery, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of burglary tools. The female was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Stolen property from the looting and a firearm was recovered from their vehicle.

A third suspect was caught on foot and arrested. He was also charged with robbery, possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Brett Barrett is one of the managers of P.F. Chang’s restaurant across from the Nordstrom store. He watched as the bedlam unfolded.

“I probably saw 50-80 people in like ski masks with crowbars, a bunch of weapons,” he said. “They were looting the Nordstrom.”

“There was a mob of people,” he continued. “The police were flying in. It was like a scene out of a movie. It was insane.”

Barrett also worried about the safety of the diners in his restaurant. Many crowded around the windows to watch the looters flee.

“I had to start locking the back door. You never know, they could come right in here. It was crazy…All the guests inside were getting concerned. It was a scary scene for a moment.”

“Drove over on 24 from Oakland?”

I’d put that odds of that at about 80%... with a 20% chance they came down 680 from Vallejo, Antioch etc.

My cousin was stationed out in CA in the late 60’s and early 70’s while in the Navy.

I remember him talking at Thanksgiving or Christmas about how CA was literally like heaven.

I’m surprised he did not stay but he was “Yinzer” through and through and got homesick of the steel mills and pollution.

“Looter” is an offensive term. They should be called “people of color.”

A good point, though you'll be called racist. I cannot recall seeing any video in recent years showing any non-black looters. Not a single one.

We shouldn't judge people by the color of their skin, black = looters, brown = illegal, but what are we to do? I already associate all members of Islamic cult with terrorists or their supporters, teachers as anti-American Marxist/Communists, Democratic elected officials as facists, etc.

Actually, I have faith that the pendulum will eventually swing back to serious law and order, arrests and jail. We might not see ‘shoot on sight’, but the technology is available to stop and round up looters and rioters if the will were there to do so.

Imho, nothing will have any real effect without several “shoot on sight” incidents. That ought to be the default position.

I remember years ago (probably during the 1960s) seeing a movie where looters were shot, so I thought that’s kind of severe, but it would solve the problem. So I think at least at one time, someplace, looters were shot on sight.

How odd. Nothing remotely like that is happening where I live. (907)

A whole lot of leftists are going to have to be looted, robbed, and/or killed before enough of them will stop voting for this insanity.

The only problem with that is the dead ones will still be voting democrat.

RE:Somebody always pays, and it isn’t the company executives.

True. Higher prices, less choices on display, quite often store closures later, as after burned down in riot.

A few months ago the woke Target Store bosses actually paid some “artist” to paint a mural with Floyd and his pagan worshiping BLM supporters outside the looted and destroyed Target in one city, with a virtue signaling slogan about we are with you, we are all in this together, we are seeking justice with you or something. I barfed too much to read to the end.

Isn’t Walnut Creek a very upscale, family oriented neighborhood?

I know all about that incident. A friend was there. It was way more complicated and dangerous than you suppose. Some cops were inviting people in to help themselves, while other cops were shooting. The key thing that y’all don’t get about Katrina is that it exposed the incompetence of government that wants to be seen as omnicompetent. It was to cover up its failure to live up to its own self image that the lockdowns and forced evacuations were imposed. Government panicked at every level — local, state, and federal — and reacted as only scared but highly powerful hypocrites will do. Sure there was an element of ghetto folks taking advantage of the situation, but that is only a part of the unbelievable complexity that Katrina was.

Under California Law, I don’t think any of them Violated any Laws individually. You are permitted to appropriate goods from others if it’s value is less than $950.

LOOTERS SHOULD BE SHOT ON SIGHT

July 13, 2020 AOC said some shoplifters and violent criminals in NYC had families that “needed bread” and “need to feed their child” because “they don’t have any money.” Mike Huckabee made a reply to her “astonishing” remarks.

I have a problem. I know Von Maur’s, Macy’s and other stores have a handful of wrapped fancy cinnamon bread, cookies, and salami, cheese and fancy crackers in gift displays, but since when are these organized looters at Nordstrom’s stealing bread for their starving children? And often going home in luxury getaway SUVs.

At least they were looting responsibly,
they were wearing masks.

If you look up “Womens Clothes | Holiday Dresses” on Nordy’s website, you’ll see they cater to a diverse crowd, both in styles & prices (like $1,200 for a FUGLY blouse?!?!!). Styles range from “Pretty dress for Grandma to wear to a wedding” to “Ho-Stroll Attire.” And everything in-between.
