On Thursday, Oregon State Police Southwest Region (SWR) Drug Enforcement Section (DES) team seized approximately 500,000 pounds of illegal marijuana in White City.
The OSP SWR Drug Enforcement Section team served a search warrant in the 1300 block of Antelope Road that day.
The location had five industrial-sized warehouses zoned for commercial use.
"Over 100 individuals were initially detained, identified, interviewed, and released," OSP said in a press release. "Several of the individuals were migrant workers living on-site in subpar living conditions without running water."
During the operation, which spanned over two days, a large amount of illegal, processed marijuana and a firearm were seized.
Depending on where the processed marijuana would be exported to, the DES team estimates its street value somewhere around $500 million.
This is a very involved investigation and will be ongoing for several weeks.
The OSP SWR DES team was assisted by the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) of Josephine County, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Medford Office, the Basin Interagency Narcotics Team (BINET) of Klamath County, the Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) of the Medford Police Department-Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Jackson County Fire District No. 3.
OSP will be releasing more information when available.
Clever hiding place.
They did the weighing by a huge balance scale with the dope on one side and women the same weight as Stacey Abrams (and the actual Stacey, too) on the other. Didn’t take that many, actually and each woman got a year’s supply of weekly Krispy Kreme shipments by Amazon.
Illegal marijuana? I thought Oregon had legalized it. But let me guess, it was illegal because it wasn’t taxed.
I imagine you are right, just like moonshine back in the day.
There goes my weekend...
In the background, I can hear The Byrds singing
“Eight Miles High!”.
Leo Kottke sang it even better than that.
“We just smiled and waved/Sittin’ on that sack of seeds/Y’all come back now y’here”
Weed in Oregon? When did this happen?
Heh. Why does the media always have to bring race into every story?
White (City) privilege!
So could the police legally sell the weed? After the trial, of course.
Half a billion dollars…
And our gubermint will sell it.
bingo
Beat the hell outta sniffin burlap
I think Neil Merriweather did it best.

Both of those are great versions of that song.
The big story isn’t the marijuana bust, it’s that there still is a city in Oregon named to honor slavery, white supremacy and the KKK! /s
Well, there goes the supply chain.
The White City, that’s a joke of a name
It’s a black violent place if I remember the game
I couldn’t wait to get out but I love to go home
To remember the White City fighting
