Trump praises Rittenhouse acquittal, calls the case 'prosecutorial misconduct'
Fox News ^ | November 20, 2021 | Charles Creitz

Posted on 11/20/2021 2:31:14 PM PST by E. Pluribus Unum

EXCLUSIVE: In an "Ingraham Angle" interview Friday night, former President Donald Trump reacted to the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse, telling Fox News the case was an egregious example of prosecutorial misconduct and the Illinois teenager was acting in self-defense.

"I think that it was a great decision," Trump told host Laura Ingraham, praising the jury for not cowing to outside pressures and delivering a just verdict.

"I was surprised it had to go this far. Somebody should have ended it earlier. Frankly, the case should have never been brought," the former president said.

"It was prosecutorial misconduct in my opinion, and there's plenty of it going on in this country right now. It was disgraceful."

Trump called Rittenhouse the "poster boy" for "innocence based on self defense."

He added he believed Rittenhouse would have been killed if he had not fired at Gaige Grosskreutz – the surviving individual from last year's Kenosha, Wisconsin, unrest, who pointed a gun at Rittenhouse. Grosskreutz was seriously injured in his right bicep when Rittenhouse fired at close range.

"I think [Rittenhouse] would have been dead if he waited a quarter of a second when that gun was pointed at his head. That guy was going to pull that trigger. Less than a second [later] he would have been dead," Trump said. "There would not have been a trial because they would not have tried the person who pulled the trigger. I was very happy to see it, a lot of people were happy to see it."

Aww, come on, Mr. Trump! Rittenhouse sprayed automatic fire into a group of peacefully protesting black homosexuals and lesbians, slaughtering dozens of them. And then he personally lynched several black children, hanging them from the lampposts and encouraging crows to pluck the eyes out of the corpses. At least, that’s what MSNBC reported. And you are saying he deserved an acquittal?

Since August of 2020, when he first viewed the videotape, Trump had the correct understanding of what had happened in Kenosha.

After more than a year, Biden, the so called lawyer, does not know what “self defense” means.

Frankly, the case should have never been brought," the former president said.

I was surprised that the case was brought because it clearly was self defense.

The Democrat mayor was embarrassed that someone had the nerve to defend himself and the businesses being destroyed. The mayor was letting the BLM and Antifa thugs own the streets, destroy businesses, and beat up anyone in their way. Democrats believe in mob rule. That is what they want for our entire country.

Why did the mayor let the riots continue? Why did he tell the police to stand down, or give them rules that resulted in the same ineffectiveness?

The Democrats continue to allow BLM and Antifa free reign to riot, burn, loot, and beat up people in their way. Why has this not been stopped in Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, and other cities?

Politifact didn't think so.

Wonder if they've updated this comment?

It's kinda funny. All the stuff Trump said that got him banned from social media he's turned out to be right about.

Trump will return, he’ll get back on a variety of media platforms, after the midterm democrat “beat down.”
It can’t not happen.

Two Ex Presidents have 4 years of eligibility left under the 22nd Amendment. Carter and Trump.

Only one of them will be running in 2024.......it won’t be Jimmy.

They may let him back on before then.

There's a lot of people on the left, particularly after the recent beatdown in Virginia, that are worried there aren't "mean tweets" to run against, only Democrat policy failures.

Drew,

I’m a huge Trump supporter, that thinks that doesn’t need to happen until after the midterms.

We need to have Trump “rallying the troops” in places he’s popular. The South and Midwest can be those places.

If we play our cards right, a great victory can be achieved.

I really think that he doesn’t really speak about thinks unless he knows it is fact. I also think he knows a lot more than he ever lets on.

I think anyone who saw the video would have said self defense. Anyone who read or watched the news would have said otherwise.

I’ve not heard this mentioned/talked about yet, but could Kyle sue the city/county/state for prosecutorial misconduct. Specifically for filing charges 2 days after the incident when there were little to no investigation completed. No autopsy report, no witness statements corroborated/tested, no forensic analysis of the gun/bullet, no forensic analysis of video footage of the incident, (and the vast amount of video still had not been collected).

All that, (the rush to charge), is unheard of in a complicated criminal case. An investigator must collect all relevant evidence, interview all potential witnesses and test the statements against known fact, etc.

I never charged a suspect with a crime until I had reviewed all of the above and balanced it against the possible suspect’s defense of the evidence, (whether or not the suspect willingly waived his/her rights).

Until you have done that your working theory of the case is useless. Nothing is totally what it appears to be when first seen. Context is absolutely necessary in any case.

Just the videos alone, (within the first 2 days), had to show doubt that the case was murder vs self defense. Bicep man, (Gaige), did not tell police that he pointed a gun at Kyle prior to being shot but that information being withheld shows that there was a lot more to the story that brings up questions of the veracity of Gaige and a hard look at the potential self defense defense.

In my view I think Kyle may have a valid suit against the state/county for their rushing to charge without probable cause.
