The author overlooks the giant elephant in the room that should be the biggest argument against capital punishment in the U.S. today.

The morality of capital punishment is not the issue. But in practice, it cannot be justified in a legal system that is so intrinsically corrupted that we have no business putting people in jail, let alone executing them.

The prospect of punishment...whether it be jail or execution...obviously deters *some* people, and perhaps even many. There are at least a few things that *I* would be more than willing to do were it not for the prospect of going to prison. And I doubt that I'm alone in that attitude.

I understand Gov. Stitt’s decision, but can not respect it. He just lost my vote.
The joke used to be, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to kill them. I guess that has to change now in OK to:

Some people are alive simply because, while it is still illegal to kill them, there is no penalty for doing so if you are black, your murder victim is white, and there is enough leftist boisterous press to intimidate a morally uncertain governor.

OMGHO. If you have a flame, keep it to yourself. Neither of us is likely to change our minds, I know I won’t and neither will the victim’s family.

During public hangings for pick pocketing in 1800s Briton, people in the crowd were picking pockets. Just sayin.
