The prospect of punishment...whether it be jail or execution...obviously deters *some* people,and perhaps even many. There are at least a few things that *I* would be more than willing to do were it not for the prospect of going to prison.And I doubt that I'm alone in that attitude.

My Grandmother was born in West Texas in 1894.
She had some very stern although realistic views.
She would say “ The fear of death would stop a normal person from committing a crime, but you just can’t do anything about someone crazy or just plain mean. Better to just kill them before they hurt another.”
