CVS Pharmacy announced on Thursday that it would close roughly 900 stores in the next three years.
The company said in a statement it was "evaluating changes in population, consumer buying patterns and future health needs to ensure it has the right kinds of stores in the right locations for consumers and for the business."
"We remain focused on the competitive advantage provided by our presence in thousands of communities across the country, which complements our rapidly expanding digital presence," CEO Karen S. Lynch said in the statement.

It seems to be the ones in saturation. One I know of that closed there’s 2 grocery stores on the same intersection, another Walgreens a mile away, with another grocery store on that intersection then a CVS another half a mile down the street.
My daughter worked in a 24 hour pharmacy while going through school. They got business all night long.
Blowback from virtue signaling and putting off the customers? I don’t smoke cigarettes but stopped going to cvs when they removed the cigarettes “to promote healthier choices”.
CVS also stopped carrying machine made cigars.
Those were very popular in the “hood” for hiding drugs—clearly a racist decision.

Nope. CVS owns AETNA and AETNA has a policy of preferred purchases from CVS vs other pharmacies. Combined, they are too big to fail. There problem here locally is they have 5 outlets in a town that really needs only two.
CVS has been pushing on line ordering and delivery of prescriptions for years. The VA has done that for me for years also. It is more convenient for them with less overhead.
CVS has been very good to us in general, but I think that is due to the local hires not necessarily the chain's policies.
