For the GOP now, all roads lead to Donald Trump

The Trump 2022 caucus, in which all that matters is whether a) you are willing to say the 2020 election was rigged, b) you voted against impeachment, and c) anything Trump is against (like the infrastructure bill), you are against, too. There is room in your heart only for Donald Trump.

Back to the unfolding GOP scenario. The worry, says former Republican National Committee communications director Doug Heye, is that the party is heading to a place in which "we don't have to accept elections and policy doesn't matter, like penalizing people voting for an infrastructure bill." (Not to mention the fact that Trump himself was gung ho in 2019 for a $2 trillion measure until he walked out because Democrats wouldn't halt their investigations of him.) And the question, Heye adds, is "How do we get past this?"

Good question, but hard to answer given what's going on with Trump's heavy footprint in GOP primaries. His vetting process seems to revolve around a central question: Who likes me the most? Personal vulnerabilities be damned.

Supported Trump twice for his policies despite his character and leadership flaws. Mightily disappointed on his inability to appoint the right people to leadership and inability to take hold of the Federal power structure. Took the Biden cabal almost no time to take full control.
On the whole would like him to not run again. Would also like the never Trumpers to go far , far away and disappear.

Glad that this guy is a “former” - because he is utterly wrong. The only election results that should not be accepted are those arrived at via demonstrable cheating, whether or not the courts or state legislatures have the courage AND honesty to take them up. As for policy, if this guy is FOR the “infrastructure” law (of which maybe 10% is actually for infrastructure, the rest being a huge payoff to Dem support groups), then he might as well just leave the Party and join the Communist Democrats.

“like penalizing people voting for an infrastructure bill”

Any Republican who tries to minimize Biden’s radical spending as just an “infrastructure bill” is part of the problem and needs to be booted out.

Thank Mitch $ (Ryan) McCarthy - they stalled MAGA as much as the communists.

A Trump second term, with plenty of scores to settle. I’m in! I hope he wins, and goes scorched earth on the left.

Trump will be too old in 2024 and beyond. Americans will be so appalled at how senile Biden is, they won’t want another old man in the White House. Sorry, but that’s the truth. And Trump is still out there with nutty remarks. I know solid, conservative Republicans who voted for him twice but can’t stand him or his juvenile behavior. They’re tired of him.

I remember too well the revolving door appointments, the insults he hurled at people he fired, the incompetents he kept in jobs which often suggested to me that he didn’t bother to check up on them, just took the advice of some party bigwig. How else can you explain the appointment of Bill Barr who clearly despises him? There are many others like him who are now standing in line to dump on Trump.

Conservatives should start looking for someone else. Trump wouldn’t be facing Joe Biden in 2024 or Kamala. Both of them will be long gone if the 2022 elections turn out to be a bloodbath for Democrats. So, polls showing Trump versus Biden in 2024 are totally meaningless. That matchup will never happen.

The majority of this site, not once but twice supported an open borders globalist fraud for President.

How about you allendale?

You’re comparing a supercharged individual who built a planet wide empire, to senile Joe Biden? Get real.

Btw, did you conservative Republicans support the open borders globalist fraud, George Bush?
