I think posters need to understand that a mistrial, even one with prejudice, does not end the case. The prosecution will then get to appeal that ruling, so we could end up right back with a whole new trial.

The judge rightly would prefer to give the jury the opportunity to reach a verdict of not guilty, because that is unappealable and Kyle would walk free for good. Any result other than that may see us going through this whole thing again in another year.

While a retrial is a bad possibility, getting railroaded is even worse. Rittenhouse is looking at a life sentence! We would hope that if there is a retrial, he would have better representation.
