South Dakota state Rep. and former House Speaker Steve Haugaard is launching a primary challenge to Gov. Kristi Noem (R).
Haugaard is the first challenger – Republican or Democrat – to launch a campaign against Noem, a rising star within the GOP who is seen as a potential contender for the party’s 2024 presidential nomination.
Haugaard filed paperwork for his campaign with the South Dakota Secretary of State’s Office on Friday.

Noem would have been unbeatable had she signed the bill to ban transgendered men in women’s sports.
Now, her opponent will have an issue to fight her on.

Well, President Trump was a democrat before becoming a Republican.
But we do need to vet big time. Need assigned people to dig and dig to get something to hold against them.... LIKE DEMS DO. Then ‘just say no’ of they are not trustworthy. Gotta play a little dirty.........why the hell not?

Haugaard, the 65-year-old private attorney and former speaker of the House in the state Legislature who filed his candidacy Monday, told a crowded room of supporters at his office that Noem has repeatedly sided against conservatives in controversial debates around topics like sports participation by transgender athletes and COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
“We need a full-time governor who puts South Dakotans first. Period,” he said. “Kristi Noem has been beholden to special interests, from the NCAA, to big business, to corporate lobbyists.”
Looks for like a political witch hunt than any breach of law or abuse of power...
And the Democrat governors association is sure happy about this challenge...while screeching corruption and abuse of power...and dragging her daughter through the mud...
In fact her daughter quit yesterday...
I smell a rat....the dems have probably calculated that he can win the primary attacking from the right but that he wont carry the general election when the press tears him to shreds...
