It brings to 21 the number of UK suppliers that have gone bust since the start of September after the price of buying gas on the wholesale market surged.
More than two million customers have been affected.
The gas market spike has left companies, some of whom did not "hedge" or insure themselves against such fluctuations, having to buy energy at elevated levels while being contracted to sell it much more cheaply to their customers.

I noticed gas price jumped from $3.21 yesterday to $3.35 today here in NE Florida.
Freeze your asses blokes until you figure it out.

Dumb. They did a great job of that here, our gas has gone down to $3.36 from about $3.49. Won’t last but they have held the line very well so far. It was obvious what was coming, I’m surprised the Brits got caught with their shorts down.
In Nj, we have 44 suppliers of natural gas. So, with perhaps a cold winter, we could beat 21 bankruptcies.
