Dual announcements by U.S. Rep. Madison Cawthorn and N.C. House Speaker Tim Moore have shaken the Republican establishment of Mecklenburg County — potentially the new stomping grounds of North Carolina’s most controversial politician.
Cawthorn said Thursday that he would run for the newly-created 13th congressional district, a seat political observers had assumed Moore would seek. Once Cawthorn announced his move, Moore promptly said he would stay in the state legislature.
It also created an opening in western North Carolina, where Democrats have been campaigning for months in hopes of unseating Cawthorn. One of them, Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, has already raised more than $900,000.

We're not doing things the old way anymore.
A Democrat hoping to win in western NC? I guess Asheville?
If they did create a demonRAT space, shame on them.
Looks like she has the LGBTQ vote locked up
Asheville is surrounded by Trump Country. She won’t get that. It’s up to the Republicans to run a strong, well-thought-of individual.
Way I’m reading this is, the derp state progressives in the gop are scared to death Cawthorne is leading a revolution to return America to constitutional rule which they brand as “Trumpism” to fool the public education victim rubes.
As to “out of state” funding, that’s how the Dementiacrat party is bought and paid for by international interests.
To win our country back, we need to think nationally, win locally.
And Rona McRomney has to go.
What kind of a Republican tells the media that a populist republican is “a joke”?
Shouldn’t he be focusing on “the Joke” in the Oval Office?
“What kind of a Republican tells the media that a populist republican is “a joke”? “
That’s a sure sign that they’re pissed that a wrench has been thrown into their cozy works.
Pratt & Whitney is moving a plant to Asheville. Stupid move. It will take two years longer to get up and running than if they moved to to an existing aerospace area in Texas or Florida, yet all they get is grief from the Pussy hatted locals that aren’t going anywhere.
Asheville is run by the Biltmore House folks (Cecils family).
If I still had the nous, I’d start by looking for a connection, if any, between them and Pratt-Whitney execs/major stockholders for the reason behind the move.
So, to rid the area of the surfeit of potters, burn the Biltmore house?

The Pratt move is total “inside job”.
From a dollar and Sense perspective it is Stupid. They could have Put it at Alliance Airport, Abbott would have matched NC’s subsidies and they would be making part today (instead of 2 years from now).
Is the Bridge to “Fantasy Island” even built, yet?
Just one of several instances in this article where the Raleigh paper is showing their bias.
It’s par for the course for liberal RINO squishes, whenever they control the redistricting process anywhere, to first and foremost try to eliminate conservative members of the Republican delegation (see also Ohio regarding Jim Jordan’s district being obliterated), and only after that — if at all — do they concern themselves with inconveniencing Democrats with whom they have much more in common than with conservatives.
In this case the attempt was:
a. eliminate Cawthorn,
b. create a district for some “moderate” R state legislator, and if the price to pay for that is
c. conceding the shithole of Asheville and its surrounding good areas to some psychobitch Democrat, then it’s well worth it to get rid of an irritating conservative.
Watch for the same thing to happen in Texas, Georgia (Marjorie Taylor Greene is #1 on the hate list, obviously; maybe create a district for their good pal Raffensperger?) and Florida and anywhere else that RINOs control the process. They control it in states such as Pennsylvania and Michigan too but it’s a much harder task there, nearly impossible, to locate an irritating conservative to eliminate from the delegation since nearly all elected R’s are already timid squishes.
Interesting....
Rep. Cawthorn considers run in redrawn NC District 13
Asheville is located just east of the numeral "14" on this map, in Buncombe County. If Cawthorn runs in the 13th, Asheville hippies will not be a problem.
“Cawthorn’s entry into new Mecklenburg County district shakes local Republicans”
You mean the same Mecklenburg County Republican party that gave us Pat McCrory?
Good.
Wonder if Mark Meadows would be interested?
