Poll: Sheriff Joe Lombardo Shows Double Digit Lead in Nevada Gubernatorial Race

Sheriff Joe Lombardo shows a commanding lead in the Nevada gubernatorial Republican primary roughly one year out from the midterm elections, according to polling done by a pro-Lombardo PAC.

Lombardo currently shows a double-digit lead over his closest opponent, Dean Heller — a former senator and one-time Nevada Secretary of State — who he was trailing in the polls roughly four months ago.

Thirty-seven percent of the respondents said they would vote for Lombardo, while 19 percent said they would vote for Heller. However, in July, Heller was in the lead with 27 percent, against Lombardo’s 22 percent.

Meanwhile, the other Republican primary candidates in the poll are Michele Fiore with eight percent, Joey Gilbert with seven percent, John Lee with five percent, Fred Simon with three percent, Eddie Hamilton with one percent, and Guy Paul Nohra with zero percent. There was also 20 percent that were undecided.

The poll indicates that Lombardo’s increase is a “direct result” of the sheriff’s increase in name recognition since the last survey done in July. His name recognition has risen from 11 percent to 91 percent, along with his increased favorability being raised 14 percent to 67 percent.

The Tarrance Group conducted the poll on behalf of the pro-Lombardo PAC, Better Nevada, to gauge the attitudes among Republican primary voters in Nevada. The poll asked 500 “likely” Republican primary voters throughout Nevada between November 7 and 9. There was a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 percent.

According to the Nevada Independent, the poll was conducted after the PAC’s six-figure advertising blitz on broadcast, cable, and radio, mainly in Reno and Las Vegas. The ad touted his law enforcement background:

Because Clark and Washoe are the two counties that determine all the (s)elections in NevaDUH and to hell with the rest of the state. NOT my first choice. But, vegas politics............... (Still think Mrs rktman's idea of one county=one vote is a good alternative plan.)

You’ve got to be the stoopidest person in the world to vote for a Rat. Plus you like paying $5 dollars a gallon for gas. It’s only going higher with these monsters in charge.

Who is this guy Lombardo?

(Sorry, couldn’t stop myself. He used to have dozens of albums in the bins when I worked at the record department of Korvette’s discount store. The Anniversary Song and Auld Lang Syne are still sold today.)

I’m pleased to hear this. Dean was a lousy senator I think so good to see new blood. Voters are willing to give new blood a chance i.e see VA> As long as he is competent and can raise finance!

Being a police chief of a place where they have
high crime rate for break ins, car theft and
cops shooting unarmed citizens isn’t an indication
of competence

I have a friend Phil who left Vegas saying they won’t arrest illegals, educate a million illegal kids for over $1ok each, and the building trade jobs all aliens.
To make Nevada right the border needs to be real. You must have ID check on
jobs, and taxes must go down again.

Keeping the execrable Dean Heller from getting the NV Guv nomination is paramount. Adam Paul Laxalt will take out Dingy Harry’s meatpuppet, Sinator Kommie Katie Matzo Cortez.

What wrong with him and who do you prefer? Not Heller? John Lee?

“one county=one vote”

Georgia used to have something called the County Unit system. I believe the Supreme Court put a stop to that.

73% of NV lives in Clark, and Washoe and Clark together over 88%.

That 73% for the largest county in the state has got to be the national record. New Castle Delaware is only 57.6%. Honolulu County, 70%. I never really thought about that before.

Maricopa will be there soon. We’re at 62% right now with tens of thousands moving in. Intel just built a new plant in Chandler with 21,000 jobs, and is just one of many.

Yeah, Clark County having 73% of NV’s population must be a modern record; it’s possible, however, that when they admitted some new states in the 19th century that a higher percentage of the state population lived in a particular county (particularly since they tended to have few counties back then), And how many counties did KY have when it was admitted in the 1790s? Jefferson County might have included a huge percentage of the land and almost all of the non-Indian population.

BTW, Maricopa County has a higher percentage of AZ’s pop (61.8%) than does New Castle County of DE.
