Since 1908 when the FBI was ‘created’....can anyone recall them ever getting into a lost/stolen diary situation?
If Biden’s dog runs off...will the FBI be the search unit for the dog? If Biden loses his prize pen...is there some division of the FBI ready to go and hunt for it?
Given the nature of the work that Project Veritas does, I would hope that they had been taking the necessary security precautions in anticipation of such a raid.
I’m sorry, but it sounds like Barr was enforcing the rule of law and respect for private property. The implications of disclosure of the information in the diary could affect a national election, and transportation of stolen property across state lines is a Federal crime.
We are not supposed to fine out ANYTHING about the Bidens (bunch of weirdos) but by God EVERYTHING about ANY republican is to be looked into (as we have seen, back to high school yearbooks, but Ralph Northam’s yearbook, nothing to see here).

My threshold question is, how is the theft of a diary a Federal issue?
If Veritas decided against publishing it they must have determined it was phony to begin with.
How much of an investigation was it back then? Was it more than just opening a file and putting the letter into it? And why did the Biden people think he would help them? Lost, misplaced or stolen diaries aren’t federal cases.

The Secret Service does offer protection the President and his family, and that's usually extended to nominee as well. I could see how -- without knowing the full context -- they could consider someone potential stalking/finding negative information about Biden or his daughter in that diary could be the prelude to a threat.
