Residents in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood are concerned about the recent rise in violent crime.

In the early days of free Hulu, I found a documentary there about the late 60’s “revolution” centering around San Francisco especially. It was a refreshingly honest assessment of the times and the people there (hence, it wasn’t allowed to remain.)

Most commentators of the time recognized that the “movement” was really just an excuse to do drugs and have unfettered illegitimate sex. There were a LOT of interviews, experts and video footage of the area and people. Very young adults were essentially kidnapped from all over the country and taken there by older hippies, and subjected to prostitution and addicted to drugs. Poverty, squalor, hunger and suicide were widespread.

It was NOT the idyllic picture that modern day leftists like to paint from a distance.

May I suggest the residents find their nearest mirror, look into it, and say, I’m an idiot, my lack of character has caused this?

The wife and I visited SF in Sept. 2007, and had no problems. We walked around a good bit and the areas we saw were pretty clean and seemed safe. It was over 90 degrees when we left Atlanta, and in the lower 60s when we arrived in the early afternoon in SF. It’s a shame the ‘progressive’ Dems have ruined another great city.

Allowing the State to be this weak is a serious error.

Yes, the residents deserve their fate. But disorder is metastatic. Disragard for law, defiance even, is contagious.

What is happening in San Francisco (and not only there) endangers the nation.

If the existing governmnet of California, of the United States even, cannot control this it will eventually fall and be replaced by a government that can.

They voted for this. I’m finding it impossible to give a damn about their fear and misery. They built it. They can wallow in it.

They have to learn that elections have consequences as Obamas used to say. Works both ways.

Abolish or defund police//"Hey! This is an emergency. Why isn't someone coming out to rescue me? I'm scared.

Cut down driving lanes ("road diet") and add enforced bike lanes on sides.//"This is crazy. It takes me an hour to travel 1.5 miles with these daily gridlock traffic jams. I'm late for doctor and dentist appointments.

No problem. The Democrats say to just barricade your home. You might want a buy an armored car too, you know for going outside your home.

As you sow, so shall you reap. Gomorrah by the Bay is reaping the whirlwind.

‘I’ve never been so afraid:’ Haight-Ashbury on edge amid recent surge in violence

It is just up to a good start and far from being over, might as well get used to it until someone comes along who has the kahunas to put a stop to it.

“What is happening in San Francisco (and not only there) endangers the nation.”

No, it doesn’t. When the cities explode, blockade and isolate them. Let them reap the whirlwind of consequences for their actions. Allow no one to export the virus of feralism out to real America.
