Liz Chaney’s America.
With the repeal or nullification of the Seventeenth by States comes great responsibility. In other words, States would suddenly have to start acting like examples of a sovereign ruling authority, One who’s power and authority eclipse it’s present master the Federal Government of the United States.
Clearly that is an impossible bridge to cross. States would much rather not be bothered. Much easier to cow the public into submitting to tyranny than seizing and exercising principles of LIBERTY and FREEDOM. Absent a leader or leader States, we are sunk. Rudderless, subject to the whims of the tyrannical master.
The Liberal Democrats and Deep State know what mobs are capable of and that is why they are so afraid and why they are violating every Constitutional right of those connected with January 6th and the rest of the population as well while nailing down the real insurrection. The nullification of the voice of the people in election 2020.
Fixed it.
They were all charged when they were arrested.
What are habeas corpus rights?
Every single one has appeared before a judge at least once. What I think Ludwig is blathering about is not habeas corpus but the defendant's 8th Amendment rights against excessive bail. But bail can be denied if the prosecution shows the defendant is a flight risk.
bkmk
I believe that one of the reasons for the 17th Amendment was the degree of corruption found in some state legislatures. I don’t expect to see the 17th repealed any time soon anyway.
I know these are cliches, but never more true. People better wake up before it is too late. It may already be to that point.
I think there is another effect in play too. Two incompetent but power hungry entities get to blame the other.
It’s a per se weakness in federalism. state says “that’s feds fault/job,” feds say “that’s state’s fault/job” - accompanied by reams of disingenuous argument, impenetrable legalese. End result? Control stays in place and the public is left confused and bewildered. Th people in charge, stay in charge.
It looks like a fight on the outside, but in fact it is cooperation. A form of good-cop/bad-cop.
The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.
Important enough to go in the first Article.
Should be applied on southern border. NOT for Fed-led demonstration at the capitol.
What is a GOP legislator who isn’t doing everything in his power to get justice for these prisoners? Pffft! on all of them except MTG and Gohmert.
We’ve been openly doing that for 20 years. Welcome to the Patriot Act. And not so openly doing it for 30 years before that. Welcome to the War on Drugs. What’s that thing about first they came for... but that wasn’t me... Really guys, maybe you should have been paying attention.
This author has been asleep for the past year. The only way to fix this is to go get the prisoners.
Seems democrats have some serious commie ‘intelligence’ help...
All very true observations and valid concerns.
The repeal of the 17th is a path I would surely travel versus the current trajectory this once great country is on...
“They have been charged. That part of the rant is false”
Wrong.
Most were let go without ever being charged but spend 10-15 years locked up.. One spent 14 years there and he was interviewed in RT TV the other day.
Of the 39 remaining, 27 have never been charged.
All Americans should be against this as we are finding out it will be used against us.
I was referring to the jan 6 political prisoners, not the gitmo ones. Maybe my sloppy read of the article.
This is no longer America as we knew it.
It’s. time to storm the Bastille.
This is the disgusting democrats.
