The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is issuing a final rule that expands federal pipeline safety oversight to all onshore gas gathering pipelines.
The rule, initiated over 10 years ago, expands the definition of a “regulated” gas gathering pipeline that is more than 50 years old. It will — for the first time — apply federal pipeline safety regulations to tens of thousands of miles of unregulated gas gathering pipelines. The final rule will require pipeline operators to report safety information for all gas gathering lines, representing more than 425,000 additional miles covered by Federal reporting requirements.
“After years in development, these new regulations represent a major step to enhance and modernize pipeline safety and environmental standards” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in a Nov. 2 statement. “This rule will improve safety, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and result in more jobs for pipeline workers that are needed to help upgrade the safety and operations of these lines.”

PHMSA estimates that there are at least 425,000 miles of onshore gas gathering lines that have not been subject to PHMSA oversight, but will be after this rule takes effect. The rule establishes a new category of regulated onshore gathering lines covering higher-pressure lines that pose a heightened risk in rural areas — and applies existing pipeline safety requirements to tens of thousands of miles of these pipelines. The rule also requires all onshore gas gathering pipeline operators to begin filing incident reports and comprehensive annual reports.

Say good-bye to gas storage fields.
We are being systematically dismantled.
And Republicans are either asleep or complicit.
The communists are joyfully on the march...
Particularly since they know that they are almost unstoppable...
It is only a matter of months before they decide that these evil gathering pipe-lines will need to be shut down until the government gets around to certifying them as safe & diverse...
The $15 goal for a gallon of gasoline is definitely within reach...
Certainly they will reset their goal to $25, since 90% of the serfs have not even bothered to look up from their grazing...
The chains get heavier and heavier...
IAC, it just makes bowing down to our masters just that much easier...
“We want oil and gas companies to go bankrupt...”

Topped off my car this morning. Calling to have heating fuel tank topped off tomorrow 500 gal. tank.

After ten years in development, these new regulations represent a major step in SEIZING pipelines, nationalizing them and seeing to it that people freeze to death, becuase that's what the Brandon Administration wants.
Most folks who don’t live in gas-well country don’t know what a “gathering line” is. These are pipes that run from individual wells to a central location where the gas is cleaned and compressed for shipment to markets. They are typically small, but there are a LOT of them, forming a spiderweb throughout the areas where wells are being drilled.
I DO live in gas country, (Marcellus Shale) and would actually welcome stricter oversight of these lines. In the last four years or so we’ve had a couple of blowouts and one really exciting fire that destroyed somebody’s house. Thankfully no injuries.
The drilling companies who install these gathering lines are notorious here for skirting the very edges of safety practices, so I won’t shed any tears for them.
Don’t get me started on how they screw over landowners.
Well as Secretary Buttigieg says, “I’m from the Federal Government and I am here to help you.”
Of course, the net impact of all this, by design, will be drive up gas and energy prices.
