Over a weekend of discussing politics with like-minded family, we of course discussed Trump and the mean tweets. Women don’t like mean tweets. Especially from their president. Because? Never mind.
Remember Ronald Reagan? Back when Ronald Reagan was building up to a presidential campaign he was broadcasting weekly opinion pieces in which he sounded pretty angry and determined to do something about it. When he was on the Carson Show he emitted corny one-liners, and everyone laughed. But when he became president he switched to an avuncular personality.
I wonder why? Do you think it was because he had a strategic mind and understood that the president is the father of his country? Or did he just want Clark Clifford to think he was “an amiable dunce?”
Doesn’t matter. And at one point “Saturday Night Live” did a skit where Reagan acted like an amiable uncle in public and like an effective, nail-hard leader in private.
So, maybe Trump should have acted more avuncular in office and gotten reelected? Who knows? Maybe it is a good idea for the post-COVID period to be an opportunity for Democrats to self-destruct. Maybe the Trump experience is a suitable research project for the new generation of Republican leaders, from DeSantis to Youngkin, to help figure out how to offer themselves to the voters.
And when would be the best time to give the Woke-ologists enough rope to hang themselves? Right now, or after a second-term Trump?
I mean, wouldn’t it be great if the Progressive Caucus gets their heads handed to them later this month when it’s time to pass the reconciliation bill and the moderate Democrats are staring into the headlights of the onrushing 2022 midterms and refuse to vote for the spend-until-you-see-the-whites-of-their-eyes progressive agenda?

BS.
He *was* re-elected.
They stole it.

/\
Sytel, smartmatic, EAS, clarion and dominion , and maybe even polyscanner ruby will save them I bet.
Oh, forgot to add
FOX.
I know that skit; the author's point - that Reagan was able to deftly shift his public persona and garner respect from leftists - is wrong.
Regards,
Exactly! And his tweets never bothered this now 65 yr. old woman in the least.
My 81 year old mother and 52 year old wife both loved Trump’s tweets.
This is not a very good analysis; and it says virtually nothing anyway, so that qualifies it as whistling Dixie.
Our DJT is as amiable a fellow as anyone. So was Jesus. But when Jesus came into Jerusalem, the ruling Temple class had it their way, only to be told by Jesus “their way” wasn’t where it’s at with God. Of course they loved that, right? When they threw accusations at Jesus, when they argued with Him, when they tried to entrap Him, He gave as good as He got, only better. That made them gnash their teeth even more.
While in no wise trying to equate the two, I’ll just say this: when DJT came into town, the ruling class had it all their way. DJT and his base insisted that “their way” was full of lies and gimmickry, made to look as though they were doing the will of the people, following the Constitution and generally doing what was best for the country. But they weren’t. He was opposed from every direction by the establishment and the media. He was accused falsely. He was brutally criticized. He was never praised.
DJT is a fighter, though, and polite to the core at the same time. He never hits first; but he always hits back, and HARD. He never got any good coverage from the lamestreams; so he gave himself good coverage by doing more pressers than anyone, more ropelines, and he went to social media to extol the virtues of his agenda, and to respond to scurrilous accusations.
I don’t blame Trump at all for his demeanor or his tone.
And while I don’t even go near putting DJT favorably alongside Jesus, I maintain that their circumstances upon coming to the big town were amazingly similar. And they both got crucified — the One for our sins, and literally, the other for our country, and figuratively.
What’s up with AT? Trump was re-elected. These articles that say “what if” or “if Trump hadn’t lost is total BS and I’m very surprised that this idiot from AT writing this tripe
......... .wouldn’t it be great .........
<><>if the Progressive Caucus gets their heads handed to them when it’s time to pass the reconciliation bill?

“Women don’t like mean tweets”
Because women are so nice. Right.
“ Because women are so nice. Right.”
Some people don’t get out much.
“Put it another way: we ordinary Americans see Let’s Go Brandon as a spontaneous organic response to the incompetence and the elite pretensions of the Biden administration,”
I see it as a response to a stolen national election. It goes deeper than Xiden.
Reagan was not “avuncular,” he has a sharp, quick, wit and the Democrats hated him for it; because Reagan knew how to effectively deliver the lines.
Reagan would have run up against the same challenges Trump did in this modern age of social media.
::So, maybe Trump should have acted more avuncular in office and gotten reelected?::

I stopped reading right there. Trump was re-elected.
As more regarding the Russia collusion story trickles out, it brings into further question everything the Democrats did for 4 years.
Russia collusion story was an attempt to overthrow the elected President. (yes, I want to see people punished for this treason! It is blatantly trickling out as treason and if we are not calling for it as one voice...we had better start banging the pots and pans. They all knew and should be brought to Constitutional justice.)
Ukraine story was an attempt to overthrow the President
Insurrection story/investigation is an attempt to prevent Trump from running for re-election in 2024.
Democrats for at least 5 years have been leading a soft-coup against the American people.
Not only is that true, it is factual
Is the author saying by not specifically admitting that Trump legitimately lost?
We know that. No matter what they say.
Men, generally speaking, vote on what the candidate can do for them, on his policies, his ideology, not caring if he’s a nice guy or not.
The other sex, in general, cares more about the candidate’s personality - mean tweets mean no vote.
