I don’t know about unpacking it.
The physical and chemical structures of Ivermectin and Paxlovid (other than both being organic molecules) are not similar to one another. It would be impossible to synthesize Paxlovid using Ivermectin as a backbone, and that is not in fact what happened.
They may or may not be similar in EFFECT, but they are not at all similar chemically.
Perhaps the “Bottom Line” you seek is this:
Paxlovid IS NOT Ivermectin.
This IS NOT re-selling the same low-cost drug at a new, jacked-up price point.
An iconoclastic contention, I know, but true all the same.
I guess I was trying to comprehend the fundamental difference between a macrolide antibiotics and a viral protease inhibitor. My reference to an antibiotic goes back to grade school, but having heard the story of Louis Pasteur and the discovery of penicillin is not quite same as understanding the biological mechanism that makes it work. These ‘inhibitors’ are all brand new to me.
well, one thing I do remember learning is antibotics can fight bacterial infection, but dont really attack the virus
That is what I saw nothing in common with chemical structure
