Remington, the nation’s oldest firearms maker, announced Monday that it is moving its global headquarters to LaGrange, Georgia.
The company also plans to open a new advanced manufacturing facility as well as a research and development center in the city. Through the projects, the gunmaker is expected to invest an estimated $100 million and create 856 jobs in Troup County over a five-year period.
Several of the company’s strategic products will be manufactured in Georgia, according to a news release from Gov. Brian Kemp’s office. “Georgia’s firearms industry is responsible for thousands of jobs and millions of dollars of investment in our communities,” Kemp said in a statement. “I am a proud owner of some of Remington’s first-class products, and now, I am excited to welcome them to their new home in the Peach State.”

Remington coming to my little home town here in Lagrange, GA.
During CW1 the North had a huge advantage in firearms manufacturers. Looks like it’ll be the other way ‘round if CW2 comes to pass.
Remington has split up. Which branch is moving to your town. Ruger bought some (Marlin)and other companies bought the other divisions
I worked with a company that moved from NY to VA back in the 90’s and they paid for their employees to move with them. From what I remember, most did go.
Looking at both the Georgian body politic, and ensueing the NE boomer migration, I certainly am surprised which is a tepid response at best.
The Georgian Industrial labor force is a whole different subject. Many hard industrial cost centers (factories) have done very well in Georgia.
Trading NY for Georgia....I’d be outa here....for the weather alone.
Where are they moving from? Crappy journalism — article doesn’t say.
HK is already in Columbus Ga.
Like much of crappy journalism nowadays, the article includes a link for more information.

In that Texas town
About that HQ outside La Grange
And you know what I’m talkin’ about
Thanks. I knew it was NY, but the point of the piece should be that gun manufacturers are moving from 2nd amendment unfriendly states (such as NY) to friendly states (such as GA). This information was omitted entirely. This type of sloppy, crappy journalism irks me.
Hmmm hmmm hmmm hmmm
Prohibitive environmental regulations, difficulty obtaining permits, new Federal “guidelines” via EO, coming in 3, 2, 1...

They are in upstate NY. Old gun manufacturers were generally founded near rivers in the Northeast because that’s how they were powered.
The departure of Remington Plant from 14 Hoefler Avenue Ilion, NY. will essentially destroy this small upstate New York town and the region. Major employer poof, GONE. We welcome these skilled workers and their families to Georgia!
And then they all voted for f’n Democrats. Thanks.
We need ammo
Welcome to Georgia. The forecast today: sunny, 75 degrees for the high.
