Florida will consider removing itself from OSHA, banning employer vaccine mandates in special legislative session
Orlando weekly ^

Posted on 11/08/2021 3:18:33 PM PST by ameribbean expat

The proposals, according to summaries issued by the House and Senate, include ensuring workers can receive exemptions from employer-required vaccinations; preventing government employers from requiring workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19; reinforcing the state’s so-called “Parents Bill of Rights” law to shield schoolchildren from mask and vaccination mandates; moving toward withdrawing from federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration oversight; and prohibiting the state surgeon general from forcing people to be vaccinated.

Florida has a very conservative Supreme Court thanks to DeSantis. If he does this it will take a while to get to the United States Supreme Court. The stall tactic might be long enough for this to be over and be a mute point.

“I don’t forsee this OSHA stunt surviving long enough to allow a state to spin up its own workplace safety.”

Agree, it would sure be nice if states could nullify federal edicts...things would be much better in this country.

But about the only way to withdraw from OSHA is to have your own agency that, at a minimum, is fully compliant with OSHA (including vaccine mandates)...but can be harsher (as in the case of California).

So, no, I don’t expect DeSantis to take up arms against OSHA, nor any other Republican. In the end, they’ll buckle, they really have no choice, considering how many cards the federal government now holds (such as the ability to clean out bank accounts at will, for starters).

The OSHA part is clever. The problem though is most of this stuff just doesn’t think outside the box. Of course states will try to legislate against stuff they don’t like and just as predictable is that over time, the Leviathan will get its way. Non-cooperation works at the cultural level, notsomuch when practiced by politicians .

don’t forsee this OSHA stunt surviving long enough to allow a state to spin up its own workplace safety.>>> I think the best way is to insure there is liability for the mandate via workmens comp payments for any sickness since there is really no list of adverse reactions because they didn’[t test and are not keeping track. pay for life and all healthcare covered.

This is 10th Amendment nullification at its finest. FINALLY a Republican governor who understands we can do this and has the courage to do it. Let’s roll… and yea, while we are atbit, nullify a bunch of other unconstitutional garbage agencies using their power to oppress and enslave us. Brilliant.

It was heard tonight that Arizona did the same, way back in 1973 if remembered correctly.

Oh, no! Workers are so stupid, they’ll start going aloft without hard hats or safety ties! They need OSHA standing over them saying “breath in. Breath out. Breath in. Breath out,” or they’ll all die! And it’ll all be DeSantis’ fault. He’s a murderer!

And the Supremacy Clause says quite the opposite, I'm afraid. So, constitutionally-speaking, this is by no means as clear cut as some might think.

And which of those two do you think should take precedence?

So WTF are YOU doing about it?

A lot of things. Started out by running for public office. Today, I realize the truth and, instead of worrying about that nice house with a mortgage, credit card debt, big truck payments, boat payments, dirt bikes, ATV's, RV's and all the other peaceful slavery stuff, I've minimized my life as much as possible, work towards not feeding the corrupt machine and getting myself and family ready for a time when we may very well need to live like it's the 1800's.

I know, the truth hurts. But the fact is, Americans far prefer peaceful slavery over dangerous freedom. And the pushback I get from the things I say usually come from those who are most guilty of accepting that peaceful slavery.

Dozens of Feral agencies have their own police forces. The Obama maladministration bought billions of rounds of ammunition for these agencies. I don’t know if anyone audited the armories to verify that all purchased bullets ended up in their designated locations.

Obama did say he wanted his own army, with weapons comparable to Army weapons in these states mostly between Canada and Mexico. Plus, the Blue Helmets could be invited in. Plus tens of thousands of combat veterans have been relocated from Afghanistan to North America. I’m not referring to American military veterans.
