Democrats are bracing for the possibility of a coming wave of retirements as the party comes to grips with a series of ominous electoral losses in Virginia and other states that portend trouble in the 2022 midterms.
Fourteen House Democrats have already announced that they will not seek reelection in 2022. But the painful string of defeats in Tuesday’s off-year elections is stirring speculation that more of the party’s incumbents may be eyeing the exits ahead of the midterms in hopes of avoiding brutal reelection campaigns or being relegated once again to the minority.
Republicans, emboldened by their recent victories, are already firing warning shots at House Democrats. In an interview with The Washington Post on Wednesday, Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), the chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), gave vulnerable Democratic incumbents an ultimatum: “Retire or lose.”

Based on the last few days, it doesn’t appear the DEMs really lost.
I am not buying it. Retirements are retirements of losers who don’t think they have a chance. But that also means the democrats have the chance to introduce a whole new generation of democrats who could run competitive races even in this environment.

The Marists view this Congress as their rare opportunity that must not be wasted. They know full well that many of the people they are forcing to vote for the illogical , harmful socialist nonsense will be defeated. They simply don’t care. The sacrifices must be made to pass their agenda. Doubt the Republicans fully understand what is at stake over the next fourteen months.
I’m mostly sure that the reason the Republicans did so well was not because they were so good; but because the left shot themselves in the feet. They went over the top bat-crap crazy, and if they learned anything will tone it down until after the elections.
Yeah, like saving Democrats from their own internal House fight over the infrastructure bill.
Republicans should have let the Democrats take the hit on not getting the bill passed, and the finger pointing that would inevitably follow.
But it's not in the DNA of Republicans to stand aside when Democrats are digging a hole for themselves.

Typical GOP short-sighted politics.
By helping the Dems pass that atrocious infrastructure bill, the Dems have already laid the foundation for the next generation of big government programs.
Add that with the influx of illegal aliens and refugees, the Democrats will recapture Congress in 2024 or may even hold it in 2022.
Because these new programs will never get repealed because the Ds will weaponize them by demonizing Republicans.

We must make sure that we redefine the term “brutal”. The Dems most know that “brutal” means “Little Big Horn times 10” and they are the losers.

As for the 13 RINOS, it should be political hunting season on those who aren’t retiring with no survivors.
