Chicago's county defies Supreme Court(Illinois), preserves unconstitutional gun and ammo ordinance

The Illinois county that's home to Chicago is going to make legal gun owners pay for the crimes of illegal gun owners, regardless of what any court might say.

Cook County slapped a tax on guns in 2012 and added ammunition to the tax in 2015, according to Fox News. The tax was $25 per gun, with centerfire ammunition taxed at 5 cents per round and rimfire ammo at one cent per round, according to Fox.

An Oct. 21 Illinois Supreme Court ruling, written by Justice Mary Jane Theis, found the tax was unconstitutional and a violation of the Second Amendment.

But last week, the Cook County Board of Commissioners voted 12-2 to reinstate the tax, claiming that all revenue would go to gun violence prevention.

In the October ruling, Theis wrote that there was no way it was constitutional unless it supported a “substantially related” cause, according to the Chicago Tribune.

If that’s the case, it’s called CONTEMPT and the judges can lock up the ones not following the ruling.

let’s see. there will be severe repercussions.
Like when the dems lose control of executive, leg and courts in two years.
Chicago will have all fed funds removed for length of time they defied Supremes. Let’s see to what depth that mess of of a “village” it sinks (or would I say stinks)

Even this ruling is unconstitutional!

I was at shoot point blank in mokena yesterday. The shelves were overflowing with ammo. No one was buying because the Cook county tax got reinstated by the rogue Cook county government. I specifically asked why they had so much ammo and that was the answer I received.

all federal money should be withheld from Illinois, but Brandon is president, so that won’t happen.

Time to head back to the Illinois Supremes and ask for a Contempt Citation.

Basically this means that Illinois is not longer being ruled under law but rather the Democratic Party.

Yes - that part of the ruling is irrational. It would be equivalent to saying poll taxes are OK, as long as the money goes for voting machines, etc...
