Illegal immigrants who were separated from family members by U.S. border agents could get money from the government in a potential lawsuit settlement, the White House said Thursday.
Directly rebutting President Joe Biden’s comments a day prior, White House principal deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters the reported payments could happen.
“If it saves taxpayer dollars and puts the disastrous history of the previous administration’s use of zero tolerance and family separation behind us, the president is perfectly comfortable with the Department of Justice settling with the individuals and families who are currently in litigation with the U.S. government,” she said during a briefing in Washington.
"...puts the disastrous history of the previous administration’s use of zero tolerance and family separation behind us..." Zero tolerance is Constitutional, it is the price you pay for being illegal...if the "child" is 15 and older....who will care for those under 15 years of age and handle their windfall? ... which by all counts is unconstitutional.
Half a million bucks to someone who broke the laws of the U.S.
What a country!
This simply can not be allowed to happen. It is a slap in the face to every current and future tax paying American. This is obviously the prosecution conspiring against Americans, they are not even presenting the facts in the case. Those people were separated while they were committing a crime. It happens to Americans everyday.
This is the result of years of electing Assistant Democrats as a supposed opposition party.

This only applies to the Trump years, Obama gets a pass.

You are probably right, but it will backfire. Those impacted under Obama will get wind of this and get on board with the hand outs.
I’m all for giving them bus fare to their home countries, and maybe even a free raft when they hit the water.
Apparently this the result of a lawsuit brought on the behalf of the invading barbarians by the ACLU (who will, no doubt, get a significant fraction of the payout...).
Sure didn’t take long from “Not gonna happen” to “I’m fine with it”, did it? Does it count as a lie if the guy telling it doesn’t remember anything he says from hour to hour?
