NJ gov race results delayed after vote-counting snafu hits key county

The New Jersey governor’s race is still up in the air thanks to vote-counting debacles plaguing several counties — including in a key area where dozens of machines were shut down before ballots were counted.

A mistake by a poll worker led machines in 56 voting districts in Essex County, the state’s second-most populated region, to be turned off before their ballots were tallied, local election officials said.

The flub has helped throw a wrench into calling the stunningly tight race between Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy and GOP foe Jack Ciattarelli.

“Those machines have to be brought back to the warehouse, and the judge will issue an order for us to open those machines, retrieve the results and post those results,’’ County Clerk Christopher Durkin told News 12.

He told The Post on Wednesday that he expects to have the districts’ results by Thursday night.

“The sooner, the better,” Durkin said.

The county voted heavily Democratic in the 2020 presidential election.

Murphy had been comfortably leading in the polls going into Election Day, only to have Ciattarelli narrow the gap between them to as few as 465 votes statewide at one point Wednesday.

No one from the GOP is making noises over this, or sending any lawyers.

They completely ignored NJ for all this time. A truck driver for God's sake used his own money and spent less than $200 to unseat a Dem who was the most powerful D in the state. That's a harsh indictment on the consultant class.

Those are Dominion machines in Essex. I had to have my license scanned in my county, and then sign my name electronically. I thought NJ didn’t have voter ID

Huntington County had to correct double counts. There is a difference of less that .5%. However it turns out looks like NJ is in for an audit.

Too bad Jack can’t do anything about it. He is on record stating, shouting it quite loudly as a matter of fact, that those who believe in stolen elections are Trump conspiracy nuts, insurrectionists!!!

How will he challenge this since he is on record?

Poor Mitt Citarelli, he didn’t learn the lesson about agreeing with left wing premises and accepting left wing narratives.

Judge issues order. A handful of select people go and pull what they want out of them and say, Dems Win!

I guess I’m one of those “concern trolls “ mentioned on another thread
I HOPE I’M PROVEN WRONG!

But cmon man, this is New Jersey.
We all know how things work there .

And yes I know there are super good people in NJ.
But a bunch who aren’t good and they control things.

But wow if the R’s pull it out there if would be amazing !

What a strange coincidence, the most populous counties have vote machine issues, again. How is it possible to turn them off early, you would think it would be programmed in there to remain online until the official closing time of polling stations.
