Yes fines will make it all better
Quick Joe, mandate some more.
Biden is a total moron.
The ships want the containers Off as much as anyone.
If this gets too costly, they’ll just turn around and go back.
I would.
How soon before I can get a deal on an abandoned container full of Nikes, IPhones, and XBoxes?
Damn, and the stuff in those containers may be going to Dollar Stores everywhere.
The law of Unintended Consequences is going to bite Los Angles ports in the butt.
When Biden states his plan is working, the translation is, the war against Capitalism is having its intended effect by destroying mom and pop shops, private ownership and independence.
Cloward and piven strategy is fully engaged and being fueled by D.C.’s chicoms counterparts. Agenda 21 is right on schedule and clearing the path for 2030 and “the great reset”
Are many transitioning to the Florida ports?
From a pure power play perspective, Truckers should band together and not service ANY California port until the CARB requirements for newer trucks are repealed.
The democrat solution to all problems: Screw people out of more money for politicians to piddle away
Feels like karma on us as a country when earlier this year we were judging Egypt on the Suez canal incident. Pretty sure this is even more embarassing.
Right, because it’s the ships’ fault there’s nowhere and no one to unload the containers.
When all the ocean carriers are bankrupt, there will be no imports and China will be out of business.
It’s brilliant actually!
Maybe I overlooked something, but from the article I’m not exactly sure who is imposing the $100/day surcharge — the ocean carriers or the terminal operators?
No one will pay this fine. If this goes to court, it will get tossed.
Are the crane operators still as slow as ever? I read one story this week where a trucker said it took so long to get into the port, loaded and out that truckers could only get one load per day instead of three if the port was run right. Truckers who are paid per load (as opposed to hourly union truckers) were abandoning the port traffic for better trucking jobs. Slow cranes plus fewer trucks equals huge backlogs.
It’s the Port that should be paying fines.
They’ll never tell us how many dead are entombed in those containers. CARB strikes again.
This is getting silly. The state passed a lot of stupid regulations on what kinds of trucks can come to the port; thereby limiting the ability to move containers. The state also passed a law making independent truck drivers “illegal”. They have to work for someone else as an employee. Many don’t like that - drivers and company owners both. So the damage is done and can’t be undone. The trucks don’t exist anymore. The drivers are gone too.
There is blame to go around, but the log-jam at the port after things have been offloaded is squarely on the shoulders of the state. And they cannot fix it. Fines won’t help.
Buy aftermarket auto parts NOW. Stock up on brake pads/shoes, tune up parts, filters, even tires because it’s all about to go through the roof when you can find them. Most tires are made elsewhere and nearly all aftermarket auto parts are.
