Fairfax County is rescanning roughly 20,000 ballots from multiple early voting sites after there was a technical issue with a thumb drive the votes are stored on, according to Fairfax County's Office of Elections Public Information Officer, Brian Worthy.
County officials said there is a paper trail of votes cast and staff are working on them as of now.
Worthy told WUSA9 that the county had some problems with the thumb drive votes are recorded on. He said this thumb drive holds 20,000 ballots from four early voting sites.
Rescanning the thousands of ballots from those early voting sites means early voting numbers reported a while back are incomplete, according to Worthy.
He said the county will accurately count the ballots and will update with new numbers. As of 8:30 p.m., there is no estimate on new numbers but, they are working on it.

NYT calls it for Youngkin.
BUT the VA Dept. of Elections reports that only 77 percent of absentee ballots are counted in the results .So how many are yet to be counted?
“Absentee ballots may be accepted until noon on November 5th. Therefore, results are incomplete. Results will be certified on November 15th.”

He can un-concede like Gore did in 2000. There’s 300,000 mail ballots still outstanding that can be received until Friday. Looking at the breakdown of mail ballots, there’s enough there to “fix” McAwful’s gap.
